Have you ever been embarrassed? Well, I am. I must confess that this news story passed me by and I failed to report it as I had promised. Let me tell you the story that you should have gotten a week ago in your home or business.
Pastor Stan Reynolds who, along with his wife, Kathy, celebrated 25 years of being the senior pastors of Word of Life Church in Marysville, CA, last Sunday, March 7, 2010. In addition, Stan is the assistant superintendent of the Pacific Western Conference of the IPHC.
Former Bishop James Leggett, and now president of Holmes Bible
College
in Greenville, SC, was the guest speaker. The morning worship service was followed by a sit down Sunday dinner at Peach Tree Country Club.
Pastor Stan began the church on February 17,1985, with just 12 people (5 of whom were his family). They had no equipment, no money and a run-down house that was converted into a church. Willard Wagner called it a shack, as he and Dan Clowers were the first missionaries to visit the Church.
The church grew and by 1990 they were looking for another building. So, God enabled them to purchase an Assembly of God Church in Marysville in 1991, and renovated it. In 1998 the church acquired another building and parking lot adjacent to the church. That building was completely built again and is now a state of the art children’s church that regularly houses over 50 children weekly. By 2006 the church added an addition of over 3,000 square feet that included new restrooms and a large foyer.
For over 20 years Word of Life Church has been the leader in the Pacific Western Conference in World Missions giving. Pastor Stan and his missions director, Jay Ehrhart, have been to missions fields in other countries many times. The church has sent out several ministers who are currently pastoring other churches. Over 230 people call Word of life Church their home church weekly. Pastor Stan is also the men’s ministry director for the Pacific Western Conference, and has served on the finance committee with Ed Wood during the past quadrennial.
Pastor Stan says that pastoring Word of Life Church all these years has been a joy because of all the good people who have surrounded him with talented leadership gifts. The church is looking ahead in 2010 as they embark on a new chapter in kingdom building with Pastor Stan and Kathy Reynolds.
[Editor's note: I feel better now that I have confessed, and I hope that Pastor Stan Reynolds and his congregation will forgive me. And I apologize to Bishop James D. Leggett as well. I want to thank Pastor Stan Reynolds for sharing his story with the readers of Hugh's News.]
