The Rev. Mr. David Paul Fannin, Sr. 63, of Roanoke, went home to be with the Lord, Monday, October 10, 2011 while serving as a missionary in Eastern Europe.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Epp and Hazel Reed Fannin; sisters, Betty Fannin and Nancy Polciewartek; and a brother, Billy Fannin.
At the time of his death David was serving as Regional Director of Eastern Europe and the Middle East for World Missions Ministries of the International Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Prior to his service in Eastern Europe he and his family served in Malawi Africa for 26 years.
Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Linda Walden Fannin; children, David Paul Fannin Jr. and wife, Sheryl, of Austin, Texas; Damian C. Fannin and wife, Lauren, of Austin, Texas; Shawna Kelty and husband, Nathan, of New Zealand; grandchildren, Shaelyn, Darian, and Anika; sisters, Sue Irving and husband, James, of Toledo, Ohio, Judy Harris and husband, Michael, of Taylor, Michigan; brothers, Forrest Fannin, of Toledo, Ohio, Dr. Kerby Fannin and wife, Annette, of Jerome, Michigan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to World Missions Ministries, P.O. Box 12609 Oklahoma City, OK 73157 for the planting of churches in Hungary--and earmark for project #40013.
Funeral services will be conducted 10 a.m. Monday, October 17, 2011, at New Life Christian Ministries, pastored by the Rev. Mr. Tony Atkinson, 5745 Airport Road by Pastor Walter L. Wood, Dr. Doug Beacham, Dr. Harold Dalton, and the Rev. Robert Cave. The funeral service will be streaming live, beginning at 10am (EST), at http://www.newlifecm.com/live-streaming-11-am-sunday-service/.
Interment will follow in the Appalachain Conference Cemetery in Dublin, VA.
The family received friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, October 15, and 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, October 16, at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road, 366-0707.
