Luke 1:34-38
4 And Mary said to the angel, How can this be, since I have no [intimacy with any man as a] husband?
35 Then the angel said to her, The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you [like a shining cloud]; and so the holy (pure, sinless) Thing (Offspring) which shall be born of you will be called the Son of God. [Ex 40:34; Isa 7:14.]
36 And listen! Your relative Elizabeth in her old age has also conceived a son, and this is now the sixth month with her who was called barren.
37 For with God nothing is ever impossible and no Word from God shall be without power or impossible of fulfillment.
38 Then Mary said, Behold, I am the handmaiden of the Lord; let it be done to me according to what you have said. And the angel left her.

Hugh's Commentary on this passage of Scripture
We, as Pentecostals, believe in the Apostles Creed which expresses our basic theology that is substantiated by the Bible.
I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth.
And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord,
Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
and born of the virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died and was buried.
He descended into hell.
On the third day He rose again from the dead.
He ascended into heaven
and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty.
From thence He will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy Christian church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.
Let me pick up two segments of this creed:
"Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
and born of the virgin Mary."
The Archangel Gabriel who stands in the presence of God was dispatched to pay a visit on Mary in Nazareth prior to her marriage to Joseph. He makes the grand announcement unlike any other in history. Mary asks for understanding of what this messenger from God was telling her. Her question in no way took away from her faith or trust in God.
Mary responded by saying, "And Mary said to the angel, How can this be, since I have no [intimacy with any man as a] husband?
35 Then the angel said to her, The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you [like a shining cloud]; and so the holy (pure, sinless) Thing (Offspring) which shall be born of you will be called the Son of God. [Ex 40:34; Isa 7:14.]
We are here dealing with a doctrinal statement--The Virgin Birth of Jesus. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit without the aid of a man, i. e, the seed of a male. Mary accepted this plan which was a miracle. When this conception occurred Jesus became the God-Man. He is very God and perfect Man. He never sinned, and only He could offer Himself as the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.
Gabriel explained this miracle that would happen in Mary's womb like this: "For with God nothing is ever impossible and no Word from God shall be without power or impossible of fulfillment."
Please hear what Gabriel said:
"With God nothing is ever impossible."
God specializes in turning impossibilities as far as man is concerned into possibility. No matter what you may be facing or going through, God can make a way for you and make things happen for your good and His glory. God still does supernatural things.
Then Gabriel speaks about the power of God's Word. Look at what he said, ". . . no Word from God shall be without power or impossible of fulfillment."
God's Word has power (supernatural power) in it. It was God's Word that created all there is. Jesus is the Word.
God's Word will bring fulfillment in His own timing.
It is my prayer that you and I will see great miracles in 2012 as we trust God. Let us stay in the Word and in prayer. The greatest miracle of all is the salvation of a soul.
The Prophet Isaiah says this in chapter 55:6-7
"Seek the Lord while you can find Him. Call upon Him now while He is near. Let men cast off their wicked deeds; let them banish from their minds the very thought of doing wrong! Let them turn to the Lord that He may have mercy upon them, and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon!"
The Living Bible
I stand with the Apostle Paul who wrote in Romans 1:16-17
"For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, 'The just shall live by faith.'"

May God grant you wisdom and glowing health [strength, might and power] (Daniel 2:23, The Living Bible).
