[Editor's Comment: When your world is topsy-turvy, and it seems like it is falling apart there is One above all persons you can turn to and find help. His Name is Jesus Christ.
When our son, Greg, was 6 months old he had measles which caused his colon to telescope. He had a blockage in his gut that needed immediate surgery. Our surgeon in Evergreen, Alabama, felt he was not capable of doing such a surgery. However, he knew the best pediatric surgeon in the southeast in Montgomery who could do it. He was a Christian doctor and agreed to operate on Greg. He said without the surgery Greg would die, and there were no guarantees that his surgery would be successful. He prayed with us for Greg and asked God to guide him as he attempted to correct this serious problem.
Melvine and I went as far as we could go to the operating room entrance. Greg was in the hands of God and this surgeon. We took the elevator to the ground floor and walked out of the hospital into a beautiful rose garden. I didn't know how to pray, I had prayed every prayer I knew. My words were inadequate. Silence filled the air all around me. In that moment of silence before Almighty God, this Scripture came to my mind. I had memorized it many years before this experience, and now the Holy Spirit brought it up to my conscious mind. It is what I call a rhema Word from the Logos Word.
The Apostle Peter knew what it is to come to the end of your rope. He penned these all-important words: ". . . casting all your care upon Him (Jesus) for He cares for you" (1 Peter 5:7). The Holy Spirit made that Word from the Logos Word come alive in me and Melvine. With it, came a deep settled peace, and we knew that God would bring Greg through this sickness.
Following his surgery there were some ramifications that didn't look good. Greg's abdomen was severely swollen, and he was spitting up a lot of green infection, and the same was happening with his stools.
God sent a laymen, Johnny Smith, from Birmingham from my home church, The First Pentecostal Holiness Church, to pray for Greg. Greg was covered with an oxygen tent, and Johnny prayed the prayer of faith. Greg could not drink any fluid or eat. However, the doctor told the nurse to give Greg a bottle of milk. To her amazement Greg was able to drink it and started getting better.
In all of Greg's suffering he never complained or cried out. However, big tears coarsed down his face. He like me really loves milk.
Whatever your situation is today, let me encourage you to cast all your cares upon Jesus for He cares for you. King David learned that lesson too as he writes about it in Psalm 55:22. We are people of faith. Our faith is in God, the Almighty One, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, Who has procured our healing and provided for all our needs. He has promised never to leave us and will be with us to the end of the age.
You and I are called upon to trust the Lord. The Holy Spirit gives us the ability to do that in any situation if we will call upon Him. We call that the grace of God that ministers to us in our weakness.]
