May 11, 2016 was a celebration extraordinare at The Gate (pastored by Bishop Tony Miller) in Oklahoma City for Dr. Garnet Pike.
Family and friends attended the event designed to fete Garnet for his 80th Birthday.
Jay Pike, Janese Pike Bennett, Cece Pike under Frances' watchful eye pulled out all the stops to salute one of the IPHC's great sons.
Eras of Garnet's life were succinctly summarized by friends and family. From 1937 to the present, guests were illuminated by multiple GP escapades. With a distinguished career marked by accolades and accomplishments, Garnet Pike is a servant of God who is "finishing well." The beautifully decorated reception hall was filled with appreciative friends and family. Luminaries included Bishop Chris and Betty Thompson, Bishop Thomas and Beth McGhee, Dr. And Mrs Lou Shirey, Rev. Terry and Imogene Fowler, Rev. and Mrs. Garry Bryant, Dr. Harold and Anna Dalton. Rev. Jerol and Judy Williams, Mrs. Shirley Spencer, Dr. Brad Davis and his beautiful daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Felix Bautista, Pastor Kathy Miller, and Evangelist Joey Hughes joined many Pike/Howard/Thornton members to laud the evening's honoree!
Jay Pike (Dean of Kings Gate College) was The Master of Ceremonies and efficiently kept the program moving along. Janese Pike Bennett had an expertly prepared media presentation that featured salutes by absentee friends: Dr Sam Chand, Bishop Tony Miller and Bishop Doug Beacham. All paid tribute to Garnet and his ministry.
Dr Pike's son in law, Matt Bennett regaled the attendees with stories of his early years with the Pike family.
Interspersed throughout the program were favorite songs and choruses that Garnet loves.
Rounding out the evening were remarks by the "man of the hour." Garnet humbly observed his outward and inward journeys as a spiritual pilgrim. Turning the focus of the evening, Garnet, as is his wont, turned all thoughts to the "Good Good Father" that the attendees love and serve. Praise and worship filled the atmosphere under the anointed leadership of Joey Hughes. Hands were lifted in praise and eyes flooded
With tears... once again, the Garnet Pike influence brought about the crowning moment of a stellar evening.
Closing out the Night was a heartfelt and beautiful prayer by Janese Bennett.
All in all it was a magnificent event that honored a humble and holy man!!!
