“The passing of eras is always difficult. I graduated from Southwestern College (Southwestern Christian University) in May of 1967-–can’t believe it has been 50 years!
As I was thinking about that milestone and what SCU meant to me and my ministry, I received the call that M.W. Murr had passed into heaven. Bro. Murr was my Bible professor and one of those individuals that God places in your life to impact you forever! His love, his passion, his knowledge of God’s Word, and his concern for me as a student and a person, profoundly changed my life. It was his influence that caused me to commit to becoming a lifelong student and preacher of God’s Word-–not stories or personal experiences (though those are good) but God’s Word. He placed the love of the Word in my heart and mind forever.
In a few days, we will celebrate his life and ministry. An era has passed. Prayerfully, his impact on my life will result in someone else becoming a lover and student of the Word. If that happens, his influence will go on from generation to generation-–forever.
Our love and prayers go out to his wife, Laverne, and family. Blessings.”
