The Lions got a huge win today against the Trojans in a shutout game of 3-0. The first half was extremely tight having both teams shooting multiple times on goal, but both goalies were very successful in saving all shots in the first half. Things would soon change for the Lions in the second half.
It all started in the second half at the sixty-fourth minute when junior Martin Mitreski dropped a shot over the keeper, scoring the first goal for the Lions. Both teams continued to fight it out as the Trojans attempted 14 shots in the second half, dire to score in the game. Another opportunity for the Lions to score came when one of the Trojan players committed a penalty against the Lions, giving them a chance to have penalty kick. Taking the penalty kick was Martin Mitreski in the eighty-seventh minute. Once again he was successful in finding the back of the net and scoring his second goal of the game, bring the Lions to a 2-0 lead. One minute later, the Lions scored their third goal as Danny Cameron delivered the ball to Freddy Valentin to have a shot on goal and scoring, making the final score 3-0.
Congratulations to the Lions soccer team on their first overall win and Conference win.
The Lions play next at home on September 24th at 7 p.m. vs. Belmont Abbey.
