Rose was talking with Marion via Skype when it happened. Oil on the stove overheated and when Marion went to throw the pan out the door, the wind caused it to flame up with fire going into her face. The face only had 1st degree burns but the right hand had 3rd degree burns with 2nd and 3rd degree burns on the legs and feet.
Marion had the presence to call the next door neighbor, my first cousin, Jarvis Harrison. Thank God he was inside and got the call. He was there within one minute and put the fire out. Otherwise, the house would have ignited quickly. He then drove her to the emergency room in Laurel, MS and after bandaging her, sent her on to the burn center in Jackson, MS.
My sister, Sara, as well as Rose's sister, Libby, also went to the emergency as well as Jacob, Marion's friend from the JCJC (JCJC stands for Jones County Junior College) choir. Syble was waiting in Jackson. Three of her choir friends also drove to Jackson when they heard the news. The surgery was on Wednesday. Rose also traveled on Wednesday but missed her connection in Toronto. She got some rest and arrived the next day.
Ministry in Hungary and Central Europe is truly fulfilling. During the month of May we hosted the Metro Big Band that gave three concerts in Hungry, three in Croatia and an outdoor concert in Serbia. Click on the above links to hear the band. I'm even singing at minute 37 on the Hungarian link! Plans are already being formed for the European tour of Jamaican concert pianist Huntley Brown and a 30 voice choir.

Meanwhile, in the providence of God they are now missionaries with the Church of God, our sister Pentecostal denomination, in Cleveland, Tennessee.
Dan Rose is not sure at this time how much this hospital bill and surgery will cost. It could be in the neighborhood of $50,000.
Greg has a heart of compassion and has the gift of mercy. I know he has given already by his credit card to the World Missions Department of the Church of God. Melvine and I have given as well via our personal credit card. The Bible teaches that leadership gives first. The Apostle Paul shared with the Ephesian elders his Biblical theology of giving based on what Jesus taught, "It is more blessed to give than to receive" (Acts 20:35). He mentioned that he taught how we should support the weak, or those in special need.
I would like to encourage you to consider giving to this special need. What if Marion Grace Smith were your daughter or granddaughter?
Let us give generously to help Dan and Rose Smith with this special medical expenditure. Of course, Rose had the expense of purchasing an airline ticket from Budapest, Hungary to Mississippi.
Here's how you can give by check or via your Credit Card through the Church of God World Missioins Department:
