The Pocket Book
My wife of 32 years has been complaining about things missing from her pocketbook/purse. Of course I have been accused as the pocketbook thief for which I emphatically denied. This morning she emptied the contents on the kitchen bar and I was amazed by the large pile.
I made some comment about the size of her pocketbook and Granny Giles pocketbook, you know, the size of sampsonite luggage, and was immediately corrected that it was a pocketbook/tote...
OK. Most items were thrown away that should have already been thrown away but had been put in "The Pocketbook" and carried around...and around...and around.
Amazingly the missing items were located; having somehow managed to get in between the lining and were inaccessible. It seemed magical how all these items could "disappear" in that vast pit called "the pocketbook."
Finally, the opening in the lining was discovered, and by coincidence it was just before my pocketknife was used to release the captive items. Out came several pens, a nail clipper, lipstick, money, ear rings, cough drops, and the list goes on. I just did not say anything else...
