It is a beautiful thing to see when a mother and young daughter team up to raise money for a worthy cause. That cause and project is Harvest Train, to raise money for Falcon Children's Home in Falcon, NC. We have seen this mother/daughter team effort now for the last three years. Every year they have reached their goal.
The mother is Sakeenah Gurley and her daughter is Reagan. Reagan is now 9 years old and is in the fourth grade at Athens Christian School. Her father is Russell Gurley who is a member of our church council. He is a contractor and builder. He is a master carpenter and does excellent work. He strives to be good role model for his daughter Reagan. He is an excellent teacher.
It was Sakeenah who had the idea--I think a God-Idea. There are three kinds of ideas:
The financial goal each year is $1,000. Yesterday, Sunday, November 20, our congregation gave cheerfully and generously. The total offering this year for Falcon Children's Home is $1,230.79. Surely God helped Sakeenah and Reagan not only to reach their goal, but to exceed it. God is the God of the plus. Although our congregation is small, our people are most generous in their giving and have big hearts of love for the children and youth at Falcon Children's Home.
Sakeenah said, "I want to thank all the people who gave this year to make this worthy cause a great success. I give honor and praise to God for this miracle in giving. We are blessed that we can go to Falcon, NC, and be in the congregation during Harvest Train. It is an honor to represent Christian Life Worship Center.
The Gurleys will leave on Monday to travel to Dunn, NC to spend the night in one of the hotels near to the Hampton Inn. When they attempted to make their reservations at Hampton Inn all the rooms were filled. There was no room for them in the Inn. But that's okay. They just go with the flow and are so grateful they can go again this year. They will attend the Harvest Train festivities and the program with the drama in Culbreth Memorial Auditorium.
Join me in praying for traveling mercies for the Gurleys and all who will be on the highways that lead to Falcon, NC.
Mr. Joey Leggett, CEO of Falcon Children's Home, is aware they will be present, and he plans to recognize this precious nine year old girl, her mother and father.
For those who will be in attendance, please look to see Reagan Gurley. She is absolutely beautiful and a charming nine-year-old girl.
What is so important for Reagan she is learning at a young age to be actively involved in the church, and is becoming aware of the bigger picture, i. e., the needs of children and teens who need love, protection, and a Christian home.
Hugh's News salutes Reagan and Sakeenah Gurley and Russell Gurley for their work and investment in this worthwhile project.
I pray that this year's Harvest Train will be the best ever. Joey Leggett is doing a superb job as the CEO of Falcon Children's Home.
