This is an article written by the lead organizer of this great event called Ride For Solidarity. I thought you might like to print it, IPHC will have the only Christian riders.
We are humbled and excited to be included and to be allowed to pray our prayers at the stops. If a person would feel led to assist us in our financial need to make this happen, they can text ISR to 71777 or send a check to M25 POB 30309 Amarillo, TX 79120. Thanks for all you have done for us. Gary Burd.
In less than a month, on June 13, a group of Zionist motorcycle bikers will start their journey from London to Jerusalem. On that day of June 13, the day when in 1967, the USSR demanded the UN to punish Israel for its victory over the Arab armies which were committed to destroy the Jewish state, the Ride4Solidarity (R4S) bikers will ride out of London, led by Jonathan Arkush, the President of the Board of Deputies of the British Jews, a biker himself.
Coming from diverse backgrounds, bikers from Romania, Hungary, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Israel and the US, united by their love for the State of Israel, will cross Europe with their national flags and the Israeli flag flying high, up on their motorcycles. 14 bikers, women and men, Christians and Jews, brought together by me, crossing 7000 km in 11 countries and 1 sea, are riding together in support for Israel, in the year when she commemorates and celebrates important dates in her history: 120 years since Basel Zionist Congress, 100 years since Balfour Declaration, 70 years since the UN partition plan, 50 years since the 6 Days War, liberation and unification of Jerusalem, 20 years since the tragic death of 73 soldiers killed in the 1997 helicopters accident.
In Europe, we will stop at the WWII death camps Dachau (Germany) and Mauthausen-Gusen (Austria), for mourning and paying respect to the memory of the Holocaust victims. In our way to Jerusalem we will also remember and honor the memory of victims of terrorist attacks and their families: an emotional stop will be in München were we will pray together for the souls of the Israeli athletes murdered in the terrorist attack committed in 1972, by Palestinian terrorists, just before the opening of the Olympic Games. A second stop dedicated to the memory of the terrorism victims will be in Israel, at the Memorial of Sinai Keinan (18 months) and Ruth Peled (56), granddaughter and grandmother, murdered in another terrorist attack, committed by another Palestinian terrorist, in 2005. Nathan Peled, the grandfather of Sinai and the husband of Ruth is one of our bikers. When remembering them, our thoughts will be with the victims of terrorism and with their families left behind in the UK, in France, in Belgium, in Spain, in Germany, in Romania, in the US, in Australia, in Asia and in Africa, the same as they will be with our own victims and families in Israel.
However, our ride is celebrating life: is celebrating the State of Israel, a miracle that turned to be, with the support of our friends, the greatest achievement of the Jewish People: a country that, despite all obstacles and threats, is a beacon of light, freedom, stability and progress, for the entire World, in the tormented Middle East. Our ride is celebrating the mutual understanding between humans regardless their religions, cultures and colors. We ride caring with us a message of peace and hope as we well as expressing our support for Israel’s right to do everything it takes for ensuring that its peaceful existence and territorial integrity are secured, the same as they are secured for all the other nations on Earth.
Reaching Israel at the beginning of July, The R4S bikers will join the Maccabiah teams, bringing to Israel greetings from the communities each one represents. The bikers will carry the Maccabiah torch from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem and will be part of the opening ceremony of the Maccabiah, scheduled to take place on July 6th, on Teddy Stadium in Jerusalem. This a good opportunity to thank Jozsef Horvath (Hungary), Leonid Rosenthal(Germany) and Gary Burd (USA), all R4S bikers for joining me in organizing this ride. Special thanks to our supporters in Germany. I also send our special thanks to Maccabi World Union, our partner and active supporter in Israel. To Gush, our Israeli biker, introduced to us by MWU, who is in charge of our 14 days program in Israel, we owe a big thank you for his patience and help. Am Israel Chai (The People of Israel is well and kicking). For details about R4S ride visit www.ride4solidarity.com
