FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA. -- The Emmanuel College Men's Basketball Team took on Bob Jones University for Friday night's game. After overcoming a 14 point deficit, the Lions were able to bounce back and defeat the Bruins 81-70.
Bob Jones started off the game with guns blazing. Three consecutive three-pointers put the Lions in a hole. Emmanuel tried to lessen the gap but couldn't execute offensively. At 21-9, the Bruins had the largest lead of the game.
With 12 minutes left in the first half, Nathan Williams (#25) hit two back to back three-pointers to finally give Emmanuel some momentum. Austin Greene (#1) followed suit with a layup and one. By the end of the first half, Emmanuel was only down by 5 points.
After coming back from half time, the Lions continued to put the pressure on the Bruins and began to close in. With just under 16 minutes left on the clock, Austin Greene drove the ball in and scored to give the Lions the lead for the first time of the night. Bob Jones would continue to pressure the Lions, but were unable to regain the lead for the remainder of the game. Emmanuel finished the night with an 81-70 victory.
The Lions were led by Emerson McClung (#3) with 14 points.
Emmanuel will now travel to Florida to compete against Florida Southern and Eckerd College on December 18th and 19th before taking a break for Christmas.
