I was already married before my folks moved to Tulsa. I remember well Robert Robinson and the story of the double wedding. My father died on September 30, 1966 at the young age of 63. We buried him in Kansas City. My mother lived on until Christmas Day 1992.

I appreciate this article on South Korea by Jeff Jansen.
In two visits to South Korea, I was up for prayers as early as 4 a. m. and evening prayers lasted to midnight or early morning. On each step to and from many churches was a Scripture verse written in beautiful mosaic. I never saw such a devoted people through out South Korea. It is no wonder, that Iran is experiencing a revival from Korean missionaries. On my trips, I expected to lodge with a local pastor to avoid expense; instead was a suite in Hyatt Regency; then came souvenirs which grace our home. A most hospitable people bubbling with the love of the Lord Jesus. A revival that has grown Christians from about 3% to near 50% today. Such a move of God in North Korea would solve the world's problem and make for the unification of Korea. The Unpardonable Sin Blaspheming the Spirit of God is not only a sin, it is unpardonable. Can a Christian commit this sin? The Rev. Dr. R.C. Sproul provides a Biblical explanation of this hard saying of Jesus. Listen Online to Dr. R. C. Sproul's teaching on this difficult issue. Dr. Sproul gives a balanced teaching to this troubling statement of Jesus. It is my distinct honor and privilege to announce that Army Chaplain (Major) Terrence "Terry" Kesling will be preaching this Sunday morning, April 30. 2017, at Christian Life Worship Center in Athens, Georgia.
Chaplain Terry Kesling is currently stationed at Fort Eustis, Newport News, VA. He serves as the Senior Protestant Chaplain. He will be retiring from active duty on June 1, 2017. Terry and Pam have been married for 34 years. They have two daughers, Victoria and Stephanie. Victoria is married to Micah Presley, the son of Harold and Kathleen Presley (IPHC missionaries in London, England. Micah and Victoria have four children: Levi, Charlotte, Naomi and Elliana. Stephanie is married to Solon Flowers and they have three children: Haylee, Allie, and Emory. During the years of their ministry, Terry and Pam have been ministry partners. Pam has had a vibrant ministry to military women, serving in many leadership positions in the chapel ministry: Protestant Woman of the Chapel. Terry holds the Masters of Divinity degree from Oral Roberts University, 1988, Tulsa, OK. He has the Bachelor of Arts degree in Religion from Emmanuel College School of Christian Ministry, 1982. His ordination is currently in the North Carolina Conference of the IPHC. [Editor's Comment: Chaplain (Colonel) Freeman Mashburn, USA Retired recruited and endorsed Terry for the Army Chaplaincy. Soon after he went on active duty, I succeeded Freeman as the Director/Endorser for the IPHC. So, for some 15 years I served as Terry's endorsing agent. Just prior to his deployment to Afghanistan I flew to Rochester, NY, rented a car and drove to Fort Drum to visit Terry and Pam and their two girls, Victoria and Stephanie. Fort Drum is Home to the 10th Mountain Division. Terry's commander and supervisory chaplain gave him high marks for his dedicated ministry to the soldiers. Some years later, Melvine and I drove to Fort Jackson, Columbia, SC, for his promotion ceremony and dinner when his commander and Pam pinned on his gold leaf for the rank of major. Terry comes from a good home. His grandfather was the late W. W. Carter, the Superintendent of the Virginia Conference as well as the General Treasurer for the Pentecostal Holiness Church, as well as chairman of the Falcon Children's Home Board of Trustees. Brother W. W. Carter and his wife, Ruby Cates (an aunt to Princeton, Dean and Ruby Cates in Newnan, GA) Carter, had three daughters: Reva, Frances and June. Both June and Frances were missionaries. Frances was a missionary to India for 35 years. June was a missionary to Mexico and Argentina. Some time after the death of Elvio Canavesio's first wife, Elvio and June Carter (without the Cash) were married. They served faithfully together in World Missions until they retired. They have moved to Oklahoma City where they now reside. Both Frances and Reva are deceased. In fact, I remember that Reva, Terry's mother, died at our last General Conference which was in Dallas, TX. No doubt there are those within driving distance of Athens, Georgia who know Terry and Pam Kesling and would like to hear Terry and Pam sing, and Terry preach. You will want to connect with them again. May I take this opportunity to welcome you to Christian Life Worship Service this Sunday morning, April 30. at 11 o'clock. Christian Life Worship Center, formerly called Tarkenton Memorial Church, named after the late Rev. Dr. Dallas M. Tarkenton, is located at 125 Kathwood Drive, Athens. GA 30607. Our church is located just one mile northwest of the perimeter of Athens just off US Highway 129. Turn on to Kathwood Drive. Our church is on your left. While I am thinking of it, we still have Sunday school at Christian Life Worship Center. It begins at 10 o'clock. We have a class for every age group as well as a nursery for your little children. Come and join with us in the study of God's Word. Bring a friend or relative. You will be blessed. Prophecy: "I Will Remove the Dividing Line to Bring a Unified Korea"--written by Jeff Jansen4/27/2017 "I will remove the dividing line in the nation of Korea that has divided My people for 70 years, and just as I brought a swift justice to My people who were in Babylonian captivity after 70 years, they will be released to their land to rebuild." (Pixabay)
Plans of Peace to Give Korea a Future and a Hope| I love the nation of South Korea, as I have been going there for many years now. The Korean Christians are some of the most dedicated, loving people I know. From my years of ministry in Seoul, Incheon and other cities in South Korea, there is a common cry that echoes from that nation— that God would remove the dividing line and make a unified Korea again. I've heard story after story from leaders to lay people of those who have family separated in both North and South Korea. It is the heart of God to bring healing to that divided nation and to make "One Unified Korea" again. After the cold war in 1945, tensions heated up along the 38th parallel separating into the North and South zones, and by May 1946 it was illegal to pass between this line without a permit. In 1947 (70 years ago this year), the UN passed a resolution on November 14, 1947, declaring that free elections should be held. By August 15th, 1948, both the divided North and South were liberated from Japanese occupation and independence was established. The Lord says: "I will remove the dividing line in the nation of Korea that has divided My people for 70 years, and just as I brought a swift justice to My people who were in Babylonian captivity after 70 years, they will be released to their land to rebuild."| "For thus says the Lord: When seventy years [of exile] have been completed for Babylon, I will visit you and perform My good word toward you, in causing you to return to this place. For I know the plans that I have for you, says the Lord, plans for peace and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope" (Jer. 29:10-11). Just as Daniel understood the times and the season of God's people being released into freedom from Babylonian captivity, so now is the time for those who are held captive in the North to be set free. Daniel began to pray and confess his sins and the sins of his people. It's time to pray! As a result of Daniel's intercession, God sent both Gabriel and Michael the archangels to fight and bring wisdom, skill, knowledge and understanding (Dan. 9:22). I see angels being released as arrows of the Lord to bring transition and healing to the fragmented nation of Korea! The 110-Year Anniversary of the Pyongyang Revival of 1907 Just as we celebrated the 110-year anniversary of the 1906 Azusa Street Revival last year in America, so this year marks the 110-year anniversary of the great revival that hit the unified Korea in Pyongyang in 1907. This revival swept the nation of Korea, bringing reformation. In January 1907, after months of persistent prayer, 50,000 people were converted in that one year and Korea was set ablaze—it was known as the Pyongyang Great Revival (1907-1910). The Lord said He was going to release His hidden power again in the nation of Korea: "The Lord (Father) says to my lord (the Messiah, His Son), 'Sit at My right hand until I make Your enemies your footstool.' The Lord shall send your mighty scepter out of Zion, rule in the midst of your enemies. Your people will follow you in the day of Your battle (Ps. 110:1-3a). Just as revival fire swept through the nation 110 years ago this year, so the "Day of Your Power" is here again that will bring another wave of revival and restoration to the nation of Korea. In order for this to happen, it is absolutely necessary that things "heat up" in the North to bring about the resolve necessary for change. The demonized regime of the North will be dispersed and let go so healing can come to the whole nation. God will restore and reunite family members that have been separated for generations as a result. Just as Daniel recognized transition according to the word of the Lord and set himself to pray, we too must pray as we see these things approaching. God is releasing all of Heaven to facilitate this process. He is releasing His declaration through the "whirlwind of the South." The Whirlwind of Revival Is Blowing in the South I'm getting ready to go back to Seoul this week, and the Lord said to me, "Just as Pyongyang (in the North) was the place of the great revival that released an outpouring of Holy Ghost fire throughout the whole nation of Korea, so now the Lord says: I will release My whirlwind of the South upon the whole nation that will bring revival, liberty and unification to both North and South. I will restore all that has been stolen from My people and I will release My arrows (angels) over them, declaring and decreeing with the blast of My trumpet over a unified Korea. I will defend and protect you from the enemy who seeks to destroy, devour and trample you down with sling stones." Listen to Zechariah: Return to your stronghold, prisoners who now have hope. Today I declare that I will return to you a double portion. Because I have bent Judah as My bow and fitted the bow with Ephraim. I will stir up your sons, O Zion, against your sons, O Greece, and will set you like the sword of a warrior. Then the Lord will appear over them, and His arrow will go out like lightning. The Lord God will sound His trumpet, and will march forth like storm winds of southern Teman. The Lord of Hosts will protect them. They will devour up and subdue them with stone slingers. And they will drink and make noise as with wine; they will be filled with blood as a bowl, saturated like the corners of the altar (Zech. 9:12-15). 10 "But now here are men from Ammon, Moab and Mount Seir, whose territory you would not allow Israel to invade when they came from Egypt; so they turned away from them and did not destroy them. 11 See how they are repaying us by coming to drive us out of the possession you gave us as an inheritance. 12 O our God, will you not judge them? For we have no power to face this vast army that is attacking us. We do not know what to do, but our eyes are upon you." 13 All the men of Judah, with their wives and children and little ones, stood there before the LORD. 14 Then the Spirit of the LORD came upon Jahaziel son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah, a Levite and descendant of Asaph, as he stood in the assembly. 15 He said: "Listen, King Jehoshaphat and all who live in Judah and Jerusalem! This is what the LORD says to you: 'Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God's. 16 Tomorrow march down against them. They will be climbing up by the Pass of Ziz, and you will find them at the end of the gorge in the Desert of Jeruel. 17 You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the LORD will give you, O Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Go out to face them tomorrow, and the LORD will be with you.'" 18 Jehoshaphat bowed with his face to the ground, and all the people of Judah and Jerusalem fell down in worship before the LORD. 19 Then some Levites from the Kohathites and Korahites stood up and praised the LORD, the God of Israel, with very loud voice. 20 Early in the morning they left for the Desert of Tekoa. As they set out, Jehoshaphat stood and said, "Listen to me, Judah and people of Jerusalem! Have faith in the LORD your God and you will be upheld; have faith in his prophets and you will be successful." 21 After consulting the people, Jehoshaphat appointed men to sing to the LORD and to praise him for the splendor of his holiness as they went out at the head of the army, saying: "Give thanks to the LORD, for his love endures forever." 22 As they began to sing and praise, the LORD set ambushes against the men of Ammon and Moab and Mount Seir who were invading Judah, and they were defeated. 23 The men of Ammon and Moab rose up against the men from Mount Seir to destroy and annihilate them. After they finished slaughtering the men from Seir, they helped to destroy one another. 24 When the men of Judah came to the place that overlooks the desert and looked toward the vast army, they saw only dead bodies lying on the ground; no one had escaped. 25 So Jehoshaphat and his men went to carry off their plunder, and they found among them a great amount of equipment and clothing and also articles of value--more than they could take away. There was so much plunder that it took three days to collect it. 26 On the fourth day they assembled in the Valley of Beracah, where they praised the LORD. This is why it is called the Valley of Beracah to this day. 27 Then, led by Jehoshaphat, all the men of Judah and Jerusalem returned joyfully to Jerusalem, for the LORD had given them cause to rejoice over their enemies. 28 They entered Jerusalem and went to the temple of the LORD with harps and lutes and trumpets. 29 The fear of God came upon all the kingdoms of the countries when they heard how the LORD had fought against the enemies of Israel. 30 And the kingdom of Jehoshaphat was at peace, for his God had given him rest on every side. NIV A Kindergarten teacher was observing her classroom of children while they were drawing. She would occasionally walk around to see each child's work.
As she got to one little girl who was working diligently, she asked what the drawing was. The girl replied, "I'm drawing God." The teacher paused and said, "But no one knows what God looks like." Without missing a beat, or looking up from her drawing, the girl replied, "They will in a minute." This prophecy was published in Charisma Magazine on April 26, 2017. Based on a true story, "Lion" begins in 1986, when a five-year-old Indian boy, Saroo, ends up on a train that takes him 1,500 miles to Calcutta. (Lionsgate Films) I'm not ashamed to admit that I cry in movies. In fact, I'm known to cry more than my wife when a film really tugs at the heartstrings. I've watched Lion three times now (once when it came to theaters and twice since it was released for purchase a few weeks ago), and I've cried every time. You need to see this movie. While it has mainstream actors and a Hollywood budget—and it was nominated for six Oscars—it offers a powerful Christian message without even trying to be Christian. Based on a true story, Lion begins in 1986, when a 5-year-old Indian boy, Saroo, ends up on a train that takes him 1,500 miles to Calcutta. Separated from his older brother, Saroo desperately tries to survive as a street child. He scrounges for food, sleeps on a piece of cardboard in a train station and is almost abducted. He ends up living in a crude orphanage and is then adopted by a caring Australian couple. The film then fast-forwards 20 years, and Saroo (played as an adult by Dev Patel) begins to remember bits and pieces of his traumatic childhood. With the help of college classmates, his girlfriend Lucy (Rooney Mara) and Google Earth technology, he figures out where he lived when he got lost. When Saroo returns to India to look for his mother, the drama intensifies. I won't tell you the ending, but you will need some Kleenex—especially when director Garth Davis reminds us in the closing credits that more than 80,000 Indian children go missing every year and that 11 million children live on the streets in that country. You will then realize that Saroo was fortunate; most kids in his situation don't end up in nice homes in Australia. Lion is a powerful film partly because it shines a harsh light on the cruel reality of poverty and child exploitation. But it is also powerful because it explores the beauty of adoption. Saroo's adoptive mother, Sue Brierly (Nicole Kidman), tells him she knew when she was a young girl that she would adopt a child from another culture. One of the most moving moments in the film occurs when Saroo tells Sue he's sorry she and her husband, John, couldn't have their own kids. She gently scolds him for thinking that he was some kind of second-class substitute for a biological child. "We chose not to have kids," Sue says, explaining that she and John adopted Saroo and another Indian boy, Mantosh, because there were already so many children in the world who needed parents. "We wanted the two of you," Sue says. "That's what we wanted. We wanted the two of you in our lives. That's what we chose." There are Christian movies today that aim to reach secular audiences. (The Case for Christ, for example, is in theatres now.) But there are also mainstream films that Christians need to see. Lion is in that category. Christians need to see it because we still don't fully embrace the importance of adoption—and in some cases adoption is viewed negatively in the church. I know many Christian couples who are praying about starting a family—yet when I suggest they look at the possibility of adoption, my idea sometimes gets a cold reception. We often have the mindset that a biological child is the better choice, and that adoption is either a painful alternative or a last resort. Or, because adoption can be expensive, some people automatically rule it out before asking God to provide the funds. We forgot that God chose to adopt each of us (see Rom. 8:15), and that the decision to adopt a child—especially one from a culture different from our own—is one of the most loving and generous acts any human could perform. While Lion is a masterful film with beautiful cinematography, first-class acting and a moving score, it is at its heart a film about parental love: The love of a poor Indian mother who lost her little boy, and the love of an Australian mother and father who were willing to bring two Indian boys into their world, all the while knowing that adoption comes with great risks. My prayer is that Lion will convince many Christian couples to open their hearts to adoption so that more children like Saroo can find loving homes. Lion was released on DVD on March 28. It is rated PG-13 for some mild sensuality, and is too intense for young children. J. Lee Grady was editor of Charisma for 11 years before he launched into full-time ministry in 2010. Janice Robinson Russ responds to comments by William Montgomery a son of the late G. H. Montgomery4/26/2017 I was surprised to read the comments from William Montgomery. I remember his father from our early days in D.C. He and Paula were married in a double ceremony with my parents, Robert and Hazel Forehand Robinson, by Dr. Paul Beacham in Greenville, SC in 1924. My dad, Robert Robinson, followed Brother Montgomery at The Publishing House (now Life Springs) in 1949. Small world.
[Editor's Comment: Where else will you get such historic stories about people who have served our church in years gone by. G. H. Montgomery was a household name when I was growing up. It is good to get connected with his son William and to have Janice Robinson Russ write about the history of her parents and William Montgomery being married in a double ceremony by the late Dr. Paul Beacham. I would like to ask William if he lived withe his parents in Tulsa when his dad worked for Oral Roberts as the editor of his magazine? Lonnie Rex tells me that he, i. e., Lonnie, went to work for Oral Roberts in the 50's, and G. H. came the next year. He said he enjoyed working with G. H. Montgomery.] I remember both of these precious ladies preaching in my home church in Christiansburg, VA. I had come home from South Africa as my Dad had open heart surgery. My Mom wanted to go that one night of the revival. After the service at the altar my Mom laid on the floor totally in the Spirit as God ministered to her as the ladies prayed with her. What a healing for her as she was so concerned about my Dad.
G. H. Montgomery is my great Uncle on my Mom's side of the family. He was a great writer and preacher. Thanks for sharing with us about him. Blessings on you, Paulette Teasdale Zechariah 4:6-7 We need a Holy Ghost revival. Let us pray for God to touch all our hearts with His love.
6 So He said to me, "This is the Word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: 'Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,' says the LORD Almighty. 7 "What are you, O mighty mountain? Before Zerubbabel you will become level ground. Then he will bring out the capstone to shouts of 'God bless it! God bless it!'" NIV [Editor's comment: No mountain can stand when God moves upon the scene. Our God is an awesome God. His power and glory shall be seen in our day with shouts of praise, adoration and worship of His people who desire for more of God. Are you praying for revival? I ask that you join me in praying for a mighty spiritual awakening where people will feel compelled to call upon God and ask for His mercy and saving grace. In this issue you will read about a prophecy that reveals God is sending a revival to North and South Korea and the two separated nations of the same people will be reunited. May God grant that this prophecy comes true. Let us pray for President Donald Trump, his cabinet, and members of Congress both Senators and members of the House of Representatives.] Get it right, please!
