Navy Chaplain Marc McDowell is hospitalized in the Navy hospital in Guantanamo, Cuba

I was notified earlier today that Navy Chaplain Marc McDowell has been hospitalized at the Navy Hospital in Guantanamo (Gitmo), Cuba.

He had been suffering with intense pain in his abdomen. About 19 years ago, he had had surgery on his colon to remove a growth. The doctors discovered that lesions had formed where the surgery was done, and was blocking his colon causing intense pain.

I was able to talk by phone with Norma Ford McDowell his wife early Thursday evening. She really likes the head surgeon at the hospital. He believes Marc's body will take care of those lesions without surgery. So, for the next four or five days they will be monitoring his progress.

Let us remember Marc McDowell in our prayers. His deployment is for a year.  As we pray for him, let us remember Norma and the children in our prayers as well.
