Ruth Belcher Hill, 88, was promoted to heaven on September 6, 2011.
She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Rev. J. J. Hill; three sons and wives, Johnny and Carol, Dale and Linda and Randy and Bonnie; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Remains rest at Norman Funeral Home, 2982 River Road West, Goochland, VA 23063 (804) 556-4111, where family will receive friends on Thursday, September 8, 2011 from 6 to 8 p.m.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, September 9, at 10 a.m. at Greenwood Memorial Gardens, 12609 Patterson Avenue Richmond, VA 23238.
[Editor's Comment: I did not know Ruth Hill, but I know one of her three sons, Randy Hill who is married to the former Bonnie Weeks of Richmond, VA. I was able to talk with Randy by phone Thursday evening by calling his father-in-law, Layton Weeks.
Randy told me that his mother had great influence on many people as a pastor's wife. She was a great influence in the life of Jim Bakker, Bill Terry, Johnny Hill, Dale Hill, and Randy Hill and many others. She was known for her prayer life and loving care of people. Flowers from Bishop T. D. Jakes, Jim Bakker, Bill Terry, Bishop Dayton Birt, and other church leaders were received at the funeral home.
Our hearts go out to this outstanding family. Randy told me that Friday, September 9, was his mother's birthday. Had she lived she would have been 89. May the comfort of the Holy Spirit be near and real to this great family in their time of grief.]

Thank you for sharing with your readers about the home going celebration of Mrs. Ruth Hill.
Mrs. Hill was mother-in-law to my neice, Bonnie Hill. As I spent time with her during family events, I always found her to be quiet spoken and very sweet. She was always by her husband's side and was the perfect example of a pastor's wife and friend. Together they reared three boys; I have been privileged to know her youngest son, Randy. All three sons are busy building the Kingdom of God and are a true testatment to her legacy as a godly mother.
Only eternity will speak of the lives she has touched as a Proverbs 31 woman. The Church today is stronger because of the many hours she spent in prayer on behalf of others. All who knew her celebrate her promotion to Heaven and are grateful to have known her. May the Lord bring comfort to her family today. She will be greatly missed until we all meet again.
