Mrs. Susie A. Stewart, 99, went home to heaven Tuesday, November 16, 2010, at 4 p. m.

It is with a sense of sadness that I report to you that Bishop Leon O. Stewart's mother, Susie A. Stewart, 99, died today, Tuesday, November 16, 2010, at 4 p.m.

Bishop Stewart sent an e-mail to inform me about the death of his dear mother Tuesday evening. Here is what he wrote:

Hugh,

My little mother went to her eternal home about 4 P. M.

Mother was 99 years old. She lived a satisfied life until the last three years. She spent those in a nursing home.

Bishop Leon Stewart and Miss Donna will meet with the funeral director on Wednesday morning to plan the funeral arrangements.

I have known Susie Stewart for five decades. She was one of the sweetest ladies I have ever known. She was an excellent homemaker and cook. Melvine and I stayed in their home when I preached a revival in their church in Greenville, AL, one summer when I was in seminary. She and her late husband, J. Wesley Stewart, were always at the River Springs Camp Meetings, annual conferences, and other events when pastors and spouses got together for cookouts.

May God bless the memory of this Godly mother and grandmother, and pastor's wife, as well as the mother of one of our former general superintendents of the IPHC.
