Our hearts were saddened to hear on May 23 of the death of veteran missionary, Philip List, Sr. He was the pastor of the Calvary Worship Centre at the time of his passing. He died from complications following major surgery. He Ministered over 28 years in Kenya planting the Calvary Worship Centre in Nairobi. The church has an English, Chinese, and Barundi/Ruwanda congregations.
Philip and Gailya pioneered the work in Kenya. His son-in-law, Ron Wooten reported that last year the IPHC in Kenya has added 13 new districts, 31 new churches and 1500+ new members.
We extend our deepest condolences to Gailya and the entire family.
Philip and Gailya's daughter, Sharon writes, “We are devastated and heartbroken at the sudden loss of my father Rev Philip Thomas List today. I have always said that if you really want to know a man, ask his children what he is like. I can truly say, my dad was a great father and great man of faith and vision. When God told him to do something, nothing could stop him. And he dearly loved his wife and family. I’m going to miss him so much. We are so touched already by the outpouring of your love, comforting words and prayers. Dad finished his race; his life's call 'Forward with the Gospel!' Now who will grab up his baton and run? May God call hundreds into missions to take his place and may countless lives be saved!”
When I ministered there in April of this year, Philip excitedly pointed to a sign on the wall–“We are a Christ-Centered, Disciple-Making Church.”
Philip preached the keynote sermon of the Central conference annual meeting. He preached on John 20 concerning the resurrected Christ’s command to be filled with the Holy Spirit.

Before we came home, Revs. Ernest Turner and Ron Wooten OMC and RMC of Kenya asked us to be the interim pastor of the church while Philip was recovering from the effects of his recent surgery. We need your prayers. We also need your support. Our expenses will be greatly increased as we take on this challenge. The need is urgent. We will be leaving for Nairobi June 14.
