On June 10, 2011, Miss Clytee Burchett was crowned Miss Oklahoma Outstanding Teen 2011 at the Mabee Center in Tulsa, OK. She is the beautiful young lady on the left with the banner over her right shoulder.
Her parents are Rodney and Joey Burchett and grandparents Dwight and Mary Burchett and Dick and Margaret Temple.
Clytee Burchett is 16 years old and also won the Miss Spirit Award and tied with another contestant in her talent.
Her platform is reading because when she was in the third grade, she had problems with her eyes which hindered her reading. She had a specialist that helped her to overcome this problem.
Clytee says it is very important to be able to read because that is something everyone needs in order to succeed in life. In August she will be acontestant in the Miss America Outstanding Teen 2011 in Orlando, Florida.
[Editor's comment: We are always proud of our teenagers when they win awards in competition. It just goes to show that our youth shine bright wherever they are. I have known Dwight and Mary Burchett for a long while, and count them as dear friends. So, we rejoice with them, her parents, Rodney and Joey Burchett, and her other grandparents, Dick and Margaret Temple.
