It iwas so nice to welcome so many friends to our 50th Wedding Anniversary Celebration on Saturday, August 7, 2010, as well as my first cousin, Mary Ann Shropshire Weeks and her husband, Everette, from Richmond, VA.
There were friends from Birmingham, Daphne, and Fairhope, Alabama; Anderson, Easley, Fountain Inn, and Greenville, SC; Elberton, Franklin Springs, along with others from all over Georgia; College Park, MD, and even a family of six from France.
I thought our adult children, Greg and Stephanie, did a great job sharing in word and song. Even though we don't have grandchildren, they have both had medical problems and we are glad we still have them today. The devil has tried to take both of them by death, but he can't have them. They continually bring us much joy and pleasure.
I told Hugh that I did not want to repeat our vows because we have experienced for better or worse, richer or poorer, in sickness and in health. Through it all we have loved and cherished each other and God continues to direct our pathway.
By the way, the Golden Anniversary jewel is the diamond. If you will come closer, I told those gathered last Saturday, August 7, I'll show you the beautiful diamond ring my husband gave me for this special day in our lives.
