Lyrics to "Foot Prints of Jesus" by Mary B. Slade

Sweetly, Lord, have we heard Thee calling,
Come, follow Me!
And we see where Thy footprints falling
Lead us to Thee.

Refrain:
Footprints of Jesus,
That make the pathway glow;
We will follow the steps of Jesus
Where’er they go.

Though they lead o’er the cold, dark mountains,
Seeking His sheep;
Or along by Siloam’s fountains,
Helping the weak.
If they lead through the temple holy,
Preaching the Word;
Or in homes of the poor and lowly,
Serving the Lord.

Though, dear Lord, in Thy pathway keeping,
We follow Thee;
Through the gloom of that place of weeping,
Gethsemane!
If Thy way and its sorrows bearing,
We go again,
Up the slope of the hillside, bearing
Our cross of pain.

By and by, through the shining portals,
Turning our feet,
We shall walk, with the glad immortals,
Heav’n’s golden street.
Then, at last, when on high He sees us,
Our journey done,
We will rest where the steps of Jesus
End at His throne.

[Editor's Commitment: This great hymn of the church was sung many mornings in the Bible Class at Holmes Bible College when I was a student there.

Dan Powers was a member of that class, and no doubt this hymn spoke of his testimony to Jesus Christ. We always sang this hymn when Dan Powers played the piano for our devotional time before Dr. Paul F. Beacham taught us the Word of God.

Today, as we pay fitting tribute and respect to Jackie Powers, a brother of Dan Powers, may God assist us to remember that in Greenville, SC, there is a small Bible college by the name of Holmes Bible College that has trained young men and women for ministry in the church for over 100 years.

As I compose this message on the keyboard of my laptop computer, I am remembering Dan Powers and this hymn. I sense in my spirit that God is calling you--young man, young woman, to enroll now in Holmes Bible College.

The new campus is located at:

Holmes Bible College
4901 Old Buncombe Road
Greenville, SC 29610-4188

Phone: 1-864-246-356

May this grand old hymn, let us sing it with all of our hearts and give glory to God.

And now, Will you receive the Benediction?

Numbers 6:22-27

The LORD said to Moses, 23 "Tell Aaron and his sons, 'This is how you are to bless the Israelites. Say to them:

24 "'"The LORD bless you
and keep you;
25 the LORD make his face shine upon you
and be gracious to you;
26 the LORD turn his face toward you
and give you peace." '

27 "So they will put my name on the Israelites, and I will bless them."
