It has been my custom for a number of years to name "Hugh's News Man or Woman of the Year." In a few days, I will release that name with a fitting and proper write up of that person whom I have named for 2011.
It is a good thing to keep my readers in suspense. Eagerly awaiting the announcement is quite similar to waiting for Christmas to come. There is excitement as children and youth await that day when we remember the greatest Gift God has given to us, His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ. Of course, children and youth look for toys and gifts.
I am not comparing the "Hugh's News Man of the Year" with Jesus. No one will ever measure up to Him. He is the God-Man.
I like Eugene Peterson's rendering of what John has to say about His coming in human flesh in the prologue of his Gospel of John:
John 1:14
14 The Word became flesh and blood,
and moved into the neighborhood.
We saw the glory with our own eyes,
the one-of-a-kind glory,
like Father, like Son,
Generous inside and out,
true from start to finish.
