When Leroy Baker shared with me about the Celebration Conference this week at Triumph Christian Center in Porter, TX, I got excited about his emphasis on Celebration as well as the theme: Mission Possible!
I am not sure that we, as Pentecostals, celebrate as much as we could or would like to do.
Celebration is an act of the will that is birthed in the spirit of man as the Holy Spirit breathes life and expectancy into one's being, and it sets the feet to dancing, and the body moving. In fact, when this spirit engulfs us we can't keep still, we have to celebrate and our souls soar in the rapture of the moment to experience new joys of the Lord.
When genuine revival occurs people will sing joyfully, shout, laugh, cry, dance, praise and run the aisles. I've never jumped over a pew or an altar rail, but I have admired others who have.
I know that Bishop Curtis Baker and his father, the Rev. Dr. Leroy Baker are preaching some of their best sermons ever. Those men were born to preach. It is in them. Not only can they articulate the message of God's holy Word, they demonstrate it by their bodily gestures. They are free-spirited and not bound by traditions that sometimes brings on stiffness and limited movement. Not so, with the Bakers. You will get it all when you hear them preach and illustrate their timeless messages that lift up Jesus Christ as Savior, Lord, Healer, Deliverer, and soon coming King.
I am writing on Thursday evening, July 14. Oh, I wish I could be there at Triumph Christian Center in Porter, TX, tonight to celebrate with them. However, if you live in driving distance you can be there tomorrow morning and evening, which is Friday, July 15.
The Friday morning service begins at 9:30 a.m. to 12 noon, with continental breakfast.
The Friday evening service begins at 7 p. m.
Triumph Christian Center is located on US Highway 59, south of F.M. 1314 and north of Northpark Drive in Porter, TX, a suburb of northeast Houston.
Do yourself a favor, and drive over to this Celebration Conference in a Camp Meeting Atmosphere. Some sawdust shavings would add luster to the occasion.
