Let be . . . and be still, step out of the traffic and know God's peace

While reading Psalm 46 in the Amplified Bible this week in my private devotions, I noticed something I had not seen before. It caught my attention.

Psalm 46:10
10 Let be and be still, and know (recognize and understand) that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations! I will be exalted in the earth!
AMP

Psalm 46:10
"Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth."
NIV

Psalm 46:10-11
Stand silent! Know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation in the world!"
TLB

Psalm 46:10
10 "Step out of the traffic! Take a long,
loving look at me, your High God,
above politics, above everything."

In the Amplified it reads "let be" -- to me that means let what has been done already alone. Don't be overly concerned or occupied by it. Step back and look to God Who is above all. He is Sovereign.

My problem is that I tend to take on too many issues and try to solve problems others have created. I must stop that tendency, and it must begin this very moment. God is trying to protect and watch over me with His Word that is a sure guide to prosperity and success.

Then, it says, "be still"--meaning to me don't trust in your own ideas or concepts of strength, ability, or influence. No. Seek God for a quite spirit, a waiting upon the Lord. What is God saying to me?  For the prophet Isaiah wrote:

Isaiah 40:31
But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
KJV

We must believe that our future is secure in the Lord. He is our strength and our refuge. Our God has the final Word on every thing.

I like Eugene H. Peterson's rendering of this verse of Scripture in Ephesians:

Ephesians 1:22-23

He is in charge of it all, has the final Word on everything. At the center of all this, Christ rules the church. 23 The church, you see, is not peripheral to the world; the world is peripheral to the church. The church is Christ's body, in which He speaks and acts, by which he fills everything with his presence.

It is my prayer that God will give you His peace--a peace beyond all human understanding or ability to reason. Allow Jesus to be glorified in your life this day. In Him you will find renewal, strength for this day, and hope for all your tomorrows. Jesus said," . . . all things are possible with God" (Mark 10:27, NIV).

Let be . . . and be still, step out of the traffic and know God's peace
