There is an old saying that goes like this, "Money is not everything; but, it is the next thing to oxygen."

When I was a student at Holmes Bible College in Greenville, SC, I used to listen to a black preacher on radio on Sunday afternoons. He was an anointed and powerful preacher, and I learned a great deal from him about preaching and the Word of God. I can hear him now saying, "Folks, Salvation is free; but it takes money to pay the preacher."

I would say, "Hugh's News is free of charge; but it takes money to pay the bills."

I am confident that you do not expect me to pay for high speed Internet services, ink cartridges, reproduction paper, Premium Plus Photo Paper, maintenance and service fees to send out the newsletter by Mail Chimp, consultant fees, telephone and fax expenses, and occasional travel, to name a few.  In March, I was required to do an annual registration with the Georgia Secretary of State as a non-profit organization. That fee has now gone up to $50 each year.

Although I have central heat and air conditioning in our home, it gets awfully hot in my office over the garage and up near the roof. As a result, I have had to invest in a window air conditioning unit. I installed it a little over a year ago, and it is the best investment I have made. It has made my office comfortable in the hot summer days here in Georgia. Your contributions made that purchase possible.

When I ask for money for this ministry, I try to do it the Biblical way. So, if anyone gets offended, he or she will be offended because of the Word.

Jesus said, "So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened" (Luke 11:9-10, NIV).

James, a half brother of our Lord Jesus Christ, wrote in his epistle, " . . .you do not have because you do not ask" (James 4:2, NKJV).
