It's that time again when the editor of Hugh's News will become 79 years old on Thursday, December 15.
Hugh was born in Birmingham, Alabama, December 15, 1932, at Hilman Hospital, a very small hospital in the heart of the present University of Alabama in Birmingham Medical Center. His father, Hugh Henry Morgan, was born in Denison, TX, on December 12, 1884. His mother, Julia Payne Morgan, was born in Helena, AL, August 23, 1889.
I was blessed to have been born when you consider how old my mother and father were when I was born.
I am grateful for my parents who were Spirit-filled Christians, who loved God, Jesus Christ, and the Church, and taught me to love and serve Jesus. At the age of six, I committed my life to Jesus. I was taught to tithe my income and to give offerings, my time, talents and service to minister to others.
Melvine will be 77 years old on Friday, December 16. She was born December 16, in Leaksville, NC. Her parents were Russell and Frances Shropshire Stewart. They were equally dedicated and Spirit-filled Christians.
Other than my personal salvation, the greatest gift I have been given is Melvine. She fulfills all my dreams and fondest expectations. With her help, I have been able to achieve the dreams God has given me.
God has blessed us with two wonderful children who are now adults: Greg and Stephanie. They are both Christians and are involved in church: Greg is attending Mount Paran Church of God North where Mark Walker, youngest son of the Rev. Dr. Paul Walker, is the senior pastor. He sings tenor in an 85-voice choir with Jason Duncan who is the minister of music. Jason is the grandson of the late Rev. Mr. Nerl Coleman.
Stephanie is a member of a 45 voice choir at Cornerstone Church of God in Athens. Scott Sheppard is her senior pastor, and Lance Brooks is her minister of music and choir director, (actually worship and arts).
Melvine and I have been married over 51 years, and that was the best decision, other than receiving Jesus Christ.
