Dr. Hugh H. Morgan was named the Chairman, National Association of Evangelicals Chaplains Commission on Monday, January 10, 2011, at its annual conference session at the Alexandria Hilton Mark Center Hotel, in Alexandria, VA.
In 2006, Hugh was elected Vice Chairman of NACC, and served in that position until January 10, 2011, when the endorser membership affirmed Hugh as the Chairman. He succeeds Chaplain (Colonel) John Schumacher, US Army, retired. He is the endorser for the National Fellowship of Grace Brethren Churches. He and Hugh have been friends since 1962 when they completed the Army Chaplain Officer Basic Leadership Course, at Fort Slocum, NY, off the shore of New Rochelle, NY, in Long Island Sound. John taught a 3 semester hour course on Christian Ethics for future military chaplains as a guest lecturer at Southwestern Christian University in Bethany, OK.
Shortly after Hugh became the Director/Endorser of Chaplains Ministries, IPHC in 1998, he was elected in December 1999, as the Secretary of NAECC and served in that position for six years, as well as the Secretary of the International Evangelical Commission on Chaplains.
Hugh Morgan is the first IPHC endorser to serve as chairman of two national endorsing bodies, NAE Chaplains Commission, and the Endorsers Conference for Veterans Affairs Chaplaincy, as well as a member of the executive committee of the largest endorsing body in the United States, the National Conference on Ministry to the Armed Forces.
Hugh expressed his gratitude to Almighty God for all of these honors, and deep appreciation to the International Pentecostal Holiness Church for the opportunity serve the Armed Forces as an endorser and leader of these organizations. He is quick to thank Melvine, his bride of more than 50 years, for her unfailing love, support, and help in all aspects of the ministry that the God of Heaven has assigned to him. Hugh said, "Without Melvine as my wife and biggest supporter, I could have never made it in life. You would have never heard about me. She is the love of my life and my best friend."
