It is with great joy and deep appreciation that I write to you all for your prayers for me as I had cataract surgery on my right eye a week ago, Tuesday, March 8, 2011. It was a great success.
The surgery was done at Athens Regional Medical Center in the Outpatient Clinic in the Talmadge House.
There was absolutely no pain nor discomfort during the surgery and following it. I was wide awake during the whole procedure and talked with those in the operating room. I had no fear whatever; but, I was highly medicated to be sure. I wore a patch like my ancestors, the Morgan Pirates, wore on the high seas many decades ago.
On Wednesday, Dr. Victor Crosby's nurse removed the patch, and my vision was clear. I am amazed at how well I can see now out of my right eye. Colors are more brilliant and crisp, and my peripheral vision is awesome. I can read signs at a distance that I could not read before. I am seeing things that I never saw before as we drive down the highway. Then, my close vision is great. I can read without glasses. PTL!
I have to wear a plastic patch over my right eye when I sleep to protect the eye. I have to put drops of various eye drops (3 in all) in my eyes three times a day, and Xalatan at night before going to sleep in both eyes to maintain normal pressure in my eyes because of the beginning of glaucoma, which my mother had.
Thank you for your prayers, and for so many who have written or called asking me how it went.
I want to thank Dr. Victor Crosby as well. He is outstanding. He has exceeded all of my expectations. I thank God for this gifted and talented surgeon.
Most of all, I want to give thanks to God, and give Him all the praise, adoration, worship, glory and honor for the success of this surgery.
