The mission Scripture is:
"And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever" (Daniel 12:3, KJV).
While we report the news, write commentaries on the Scriptures, share sermons, and testimonies, our goal it to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ so that others might come to know the Savior as we have experienced Him through the new birth, and baptism with the Holy Spirit.
In reading for my devotions during this Lenten season, I read the following in Jack Hayford's delightful little book, Glorious Morning! An invitation to Resurrection Praise.
It may speak to you at this time in your life when you are searching for answers to perplexing problems and adversity that may have come to test your resolve to follow Christ. In the midst of it all, we know that "greater is He that is within us than he (Satan) who is in the world."
Now, I am going to quote from Jack Hayford:
"No shadow of fear can withstand the brilliance of the Son-rise. All other shadows of the flesh's limits must fade as well: doubt, pride, lust, hate, habit, and bondage to self.
"Anyone who can handle death as effectively as Jesus has is more than adequate to conquer anything that assails me! As Son of God and Son of Man, Jesus effectively merges both spheres--God's infinite power and humanity's infinite need.
"Jesus is Lord over weak flesh--even yours and mine! Do you believe it?
"Jesus is Lord over failure--even ours! Will you receive it?"
Now, let me close this section with another quote from Jack Hayford. He says what I wish I could have said. However, he speaks my deepest feelings for the Savior I love, adore, worship and serve.
"Anyone so almighty as to smash the gates of hell, and so human as to invite weary, doubting men to breakfast with Him, is my kind of Savior. John 21 reminds me that He's demanding enough to expect my allegiance, but patient enough to help me grow in full discipleship. Jesus is Lord above "religious" methods of salvation."
Are you trusting Jesus as your Savior and Lord? It takes a step of faith plus the grace of God to change our lives from within. He has made a difference in my life. What I do now in ministry is a by-product of the free gift of God's grace to save me, a sinner condemned to die. My good works will not save me. It is only through the blood of Jesus can my sins be forgiven, washed away, and cast into the deepest sea, never to be remembered against me any more.
Do you know Jesus? You can this very moment. Salvation is a free gift of God's grace. But you must respond by acknowledging that you are a sinner by confessing your sins, believing that Jesus is God's Son who took your sins on the Cross of Calvary as if they were His very own, and that you want Him to come into your life to change you, and give you new life, even living water that never runs dry. Call upon Him now.
