How the vision of the “Divine Servant”® was birthed by God in Max Greiner's heart

About “Divine Servant”®
How it all began

In the spring of 1986, I believe God clearly directed me to create a sculpture of Jesus washing the feet of His disciple, Peter. God’s still, small voice came to me at the age of 34, during the height of serious personal problems. This was a time when God was teaching me about priorities and humility. He was sculpting me, chipping away the parts that didn’t look like Jesus. The first bronze casting of “Divine Servant”® was completed in the spring of 1989. The charcoal pencil drawing was finished in 1992, while my oil painting was completed in 1993.

“Divine Servant”® art was commissioned by God, not man. It is a message of servanthood, humility, and love. I am thankful He chose my hands, and gave me the artistic ability to create this body of work. I have strived to make it as accurate as possible, and have sought the guidance of the Holy Spirit. My primary Scriptural reference for this art came from John 13:1-17. In preparation, I actually experienced the foot washing with my wife, Sherry, and a Christian friend, to better understand Christ’s example. I depicted Jesus strong and deliberate, power under control. Peter is submitted, but uneasy and confused.

Other references for my art included photographs of drawings of Christ and Peter, made by an unknown first century artist. These drawings were found in the catacombs, and are reported to be the oldest known portraits of the men. The faces were based on these drawings and prayer. The foot washing bowl, which has a foot-rest, is based on an actual ceramic basin discovered in the Holy Land, which dates back to the time of Jesus. Throughout the entire creation process, I asked God to guide my hands so this artwork would represent a true likeness, and that its existence be a continuous witness to the world.

“Divine Servant”®, I think, has more to do with witnessing and communicating Christ’s love, than it does with art. I am amazed at the ways God is using this artwork to bless His people around the world. This art has been produced in a variety of forms so His message can reach as many as possible. God is not limited, and neither is His use of “Divine Servant.”® I pray this art will bless you, and all who see it.

[Editor's Note: I will be promoting "The Coming King" Sculpture Prayer Gardens in coming weeks, and months to come. The inaugural site for this garden is in Kerrsville, TX.

The supernatural events that have occurred thus far in the purchase of the property, the construction of the 77' 7" Empty Cross, and much more will speak to your heart and boster your spirit to see God making all of the segments of this vision come to pass.

Just Imagine:

• A beautiful, 23 acre Sculpture Prayer Garden, in the heart of the “Texas Hill Country”, where visitors can find God, just 60 miles northwest of San Antonio, Texas.

• A world-class landscaped park with beautiful flowers, meditation gardens, waterfalls, walking trails, picnic tables, music troubadours, story tellers, wildlife viewing areas and some of the most dramatic views in the state of Texas!

• A tranquil park filled with more than a dozen Christ-honoring, monumental bronze sculptures, worth more than three million dollars, created by internationally collected Christian artists.

• A place in the USA, at the same latitude as Israel that looks like the Holy Land, with more than 3,500 massive 1.25 ton, limestone blocks!

• A flower lined, 300’ cross-shaped Garden, where the Gospel of Jesus Christ is presented in three languages, on 16” Scripture Tiles ever 12’, where people can literally pray to know Christ, at the “foot of the cross.”

• A breath-taking 77’ 7” Cor-tin Steel, open cross sculpture, called “The Empty Cross™," which has a 40’ cross arm and a dramatic 7’ wide center space, that extends upward seven stories!

• This free, non-profit, non-denominational Garden is being built now on faith, without debt, through the generous donations of Christians from across America, so that others might know the love of Jesus Christ.

Above everything else, it is the purpose of this Sculpture Prayer Garden it to lift up Jesus so that those who come to this site will find Jesus as Savior and Lord.

Jesus said, "And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me" (John 12:32, KJV).

Max Greiner believes people will be saved (born again), baptized with the Holy Spirit, delivered, and healed.
