Have you read the latest IPHC Experience for March 2010?

The IPHC Experience just gets better and better. This particular edition has several interesting stories beginning with"The Church in Haiti Found Alive in the Rubble."

Shirley Spencer really went all out to make this March 2010 issue a super colossal edition. We applaud her and all who contributed in this month's magazine.

Presiding Bishop Ronald W. Carpenter, Sr. wrote, "If the recent disaster in Haiti taught us anything, it is that we are stronger together than we are separate."

Bishop Carpenter reminds us that . . . " regardless of the size of your ministry, you will always have these resources (people, finances, facilities and time). It is up to you to use them wisely. One rule of thumb should always apply: If it does not help us in accomplishing our vision, we should not use our resources in its pursuit?

Now is the time to plan to attend this year's Youth Quest in Orlando, FL, July 19th-22nd. You can find out more about this annual youth even by going to www.yq.iphc.org.

Over the last 13 years that I have attended regularly to promote Chaplains Ministries, IPHC, I have discovered that Youth Quest is a fertile soil to plant seed for future military chaplains.

One prime example is Navy Chaplain Candidate, Lieutenant Junior Grade Adam Erwin. He has graduated from Georgia Tech, gotten married last summer, and later this year he will complete his 72-semester Master's degree program at Southwestern Christian University.

When I saw him standing at my display table a number of years ago now, I saw a vision of him in a white Navy dress uniform with a cross on the sleeve of his coat. I asked him a simple question: "Have you ever considered becoming a Navy chaplain?"  He cried, and exclaimed, "How did you know that God has called me to be a Navy chaplain?"

Of course, I did not know that fact except that the Holy Spirit revealed it as I saw him in my vision. To my knowledge, I had never met him, even though he is from my conference. The rest is history. This young man was not disobedient to the heavenly vision and has pursued the educational and professional ministry experience to achieve his goal to become a Navy chaplain. I trust that I will be the one who will endorse him for the Navy Chaplaincy.

The Oral Roberts Memorial Service. A whole page, actually two pages, plus another page, is dedicated to the legacy of Oral Roberts. You must get a copy of it. Dr. Vinson Synan, a noted historian in our church, as well as the Pentecostal and Charismatic world, has a great article about Oral Roberts--one of our very own ministers of the Gospel.

I was deeply impressed by the story about the Southwestern Christian University honoring Interim President and Board of Regents Chairman. The Rev. Dr. Dwight Burchett served as the Interim President during the year of transition between presidents. They gave Dwight and Mary Burchett a check for $2,000. Then, Bishop Randell Drake, superintendent of New Horizons Ministries Conference and secretary of the SCU Board of Regents, awarded Dr. Dan Beller with a matching check for his leadership.

Burchett said he really thought that everyone had come to hear the new president, Dr. Ed Huckeby, speak in his first chapel service.

Of the $4,000 awarded to Burchett and Beller, the regents contributed $2,000, and the Heartland Conference gave $1,000, and the New Horizons Conference gave $800.

Southwestern Christian University's mission is to provide Christ-center curricula in the arts and sciences, Biblical/theological studies, and professional disciplines. The integration of Biblical Truth into all curricular and co-curricular activities is designed to prepare students for a life of learning, leadership, and service within their selected careers and communities, and for impacting the world for Jesus Christ.

The South Carolina Conference will celebrate its 100th anniversary this year. A special centennial celebration is scheduled for Sunday, June 27, 2010, at 5:30 p. m. at the conference facilities in Lake City, South Carolina.

A dedication and ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Conference Archives and Research Center, the Wall of Remembrance, located in the T. O. Evans Dining Hall, will be unveiled, followed by a reception, and the opening of the 100th South Carolina Conference Camp Meeting. Presiding Bishop Ronald W. Carpenter, Sr. will be the featured speaker.
