Joseph T. Leggett, Superintendent of Falcon Children's Home in Falcon, NC, writes that Harvest Train 2011 is quickly approaching and the children and staff are extremely excited about you visiting them on Tuesday, November 23.
He invites all of us to celebrate a tradition that has been making a difference in the lives of children since 1949.
The events kick off on Monday night, November 21, at 7 p. m., in the Synan Chapel, located on the Falcon Children's Home campus. The Jay Stone Singers will be ministering in song and Royal Homes Ministries will be presenting a great program of interest to all. Light refreshments will be served following the program in the gym.
Please note that commodities and other goodies can be dropped off at the Home on Monday, November 21, from 8 to 11 p. m., and then again on Tuesday, all day beginning at 7 a. m.
The Tuesday morning parade will begin at 7:45 at the Culbreth Memorial Pentecostal Holiness Church parking lot. There has been a slight change in the beginning time of the parade this year. The Parade is set to begin at 8:30 a. m. Coffee and doughnuts will be served in the church fellowship hall prior to the beginning of the parade.
Joey Leggett says they are very excited about this year's program. Please note the starting time of the program has changed this year to 10:30 a. m. in the J. A. Culbreth Auditorium.
Mr. Buck Hodge and Mrs. Sarah Williams are the writer and director of the program entitled, "To a Place Called There." It is the story of how one young boy was sent on a lonely journey to Falcon's Children's Home, not knowing the Lord Himself was protecting and setting him up for a great future. Having just lost a parent and separated from his younger siblings you will see demonstrated the truth of Romans 8:28 which says, "in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose." You will not want to miss this program. Lunch will follow the program at 12:30 p. m. in the Student Activity Center.
Mr. Leggett wants to thank all of you for your prayers and support of Falcon Children's Home. He is completing his fourth year as Superintendent and says, he continues to be amazed at the generosity and commitment that you all demonstrate on a regular basis for Falcon Children's Home. Because of your support, Leggett says, we are making a difference in the lives of children. God bless you all and I look forward to seeing you at Harvest Train.
Sincerely yours,
Joseph T. Leggett
Superintendent, Falcon Children's Home
[Editor's Comment: This will be my last time to visit the Harvest Train as the director/endorser of Chaplains Ministries, IPHC. I plan to retire in October 2012. I hope to see you there at my display table with information about the military chaplaincy of the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Veterans Adminsitration Hospital chaplains.
It is my hope that Melvine, Greg, and Stephanie can join me in this annual trip that Melvine and I have made for many years. It is a grand time to see all of our many friends we have know over our lifetime and to meet new people. I am always delighted when people tell me they enjoy getting Hugh's News. I am always deeply touched by the dramas that are presented. I have cried buckets of tears, and I bring extra handkerchiefs to take care of that.
God has given me a tender heart for children. God's word commands us to take care of widows and orphans. I am grateful that the International Pentecostal Holiness Church takes this mandate from God seriously, and we have a home that provides for oprhaned and homeless children.
I am very proud of Joey Leggett. I have known him for many years. I remember when he started Emmanuel College. I know that that was a sacred moment for Bishop and Mrs. James D. Leggett (Faye) when they dropped him off to attend college. It is a tramatic experience for parents. I know, it happened to Melvine and me.
We are all pleased when our children do well and make a contribution to our church, communities and nation.
We hope to see you in Falcon.
There are several good hotels/motels in Dunn, NC, about 12 miles from Falcon. I personally recommend Hampton Inn in Dunn. It is relatively new and is the tallest building in Dunn (five stories high).
There is a Cracker Barrel near by. My favorite restaurant is the Brass Lantern Restaurant. The atmosphere and steaks are the finest in the known world.]
