Funeral Arrangements for the Rev. Dr. Jesse Simmons, 84, on Saturday, August 6, 2011

On Wednesday afternoon, August 3, 2001, Presiding Bishop Ronald W. Carpenter, Sr. was the first person to inform me that Brother Jesse D. Simmons, Sr. had died of a heart attack.

The Rev. Dr. Jesse Simmons, former Executive Director of Evangelism USA, former Executive Director of World Missions Ministries, and former Vice-Chairman of the IPHC, passed away from a heart attack this morning (Wednesday, August 3).

He was in his 80s, but had been very active in ministry until recent weeks. He fell over the weekend and broke his hip. The surgery last night on his hip went well and all seemed well in his recovery during the night. However, earlier today his heart failed and the doctors were unable to revive him.

Dr. Doug Beacham told me that he has spoken with his family and they were at his bedside rejoicing that their father is with the Lord Jesus Christ whom he served so faithfully. Another daughter, Ginger, is an IPHC missionary in London, England, and has a flight back to the United States on Thursday. Dr. Beacham and Dr. Dalton have already spoken to her by phone and prayed with her.

Pastor Tim Hodge and the Rev. Mr. Larry Jones of Swansea, SC, sent me the following funeral and graveside service announcement to be published in Hugh's News.

The visitation and the funeral for the Rev. Dr. Jesse D. Simmons, Sr. will be held at Crossroads World Outreach Center, 2606 Emanuel Church Road, West Columbia, SC 29170.

It was here at Crossroads World Outreach Center where Pastor Simmons has served so faithfully over the past eleven years.

The funeral will be Saturday, August 6, at 11 a. m. in the church.
