I was called by Jack Shaw on Saturday evening by phone informing me that his dear father, W. E. "Erwin" Shaw, 96, of Greenville, SC, has passed away.
Mr. W. E. Shaw was a good man, full of faith and the Holy Spirit.
He is the father of Jack and Larry Shaw.
Mr. W. E. Shaw was a successful businessman. He supported his own local church, Holmes Memorial Church in Greenville, and was a close friend of Oral Roberts. In the early 50s he was instrumental in bringing an Oral Roberts Tent Crusade of Healing to his city. He also brought Oral Roberts to the campus of Emmanuel College. I can see Oral now in my mind's eye. He was a tall, handsome man with black hair and dark brown penetrating eyes, with a Stetson hat and cowboy boots. He was larger than life itself to me as a 19-year-old young man. Mr. Shaw was a member of the original Board of Regents at Oral Roberts University.
Jack will be providing an obituary and funeral arrangements for his father. When that occurs, I will publish that news to you.
I am confident that many of you know Jack and Larry Shaw and will remember his father.
