Evelyn Virginia King, daughter of the late Bishop J.H. King, died Monday, January 16, 2012

Word came on Monday, January 16, 2012, that Miss Evelyn Virginia King, 87, a daughter of the late Bishop Joseph H. King and Blanche Moore King, had died. Virginia was born May 30, 1924.

This editor, Hugh H. Morgan, is grateful to Stan Oliver, a field correspondent for Hugh's News, for this notification initially. I could not obtain the obituary Monday evening from the funeral home when I called their administrative office. The funeral director on duty promised to send an obituary on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Sue Carey Carr, wife of the Rev. Mr. Raymond Carr, called and filled me in on the happenings of Monday. Sue is a reliable reporter, English consultant and teacher, and a treasured trusted friend since I met her in 1952, when I was a freshman at Emmanuel College. Sue's husband, Raymond Carr, was the pastor of the Franklin Springs Pentecostal Holiness Church, where we, who were student at Emmanuel College were expected to attend. That was no problem for me.  I enjoyed and was blessed by the ministry of the Franklin Springs Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Sue Carr reported that Virginia King died around 7 a. m. on Monday, January 16, 2012, at Serenity House in Jefferson, GA.

The Rev. Mr. Raymond Carr will be in charge of the memorial service for Virginia, give the obituary, and preach the sermon. The Rev. Mr. Malcolm Herndon, an ordained minister of the Cornerstone Conference in Western North Carolina, will offer the prayer of invocation.

Here is the order of the births of the children in Bishop J. H. King's home: Easter Lily, Joseph, Evelyn Virginia, and Mary Ann. Joseph H. King is the sole survivor. None of the King children ever married.

Visitation for family and friends will be Tuesday evening, January 17, 2012, form 6 to 8 o'clock at Pruitt Funeral Home in Royston, GA.

The funeral/memorial service will be conducted Wednesday, January, January 18, 2012, in the chapel at Pruitt Funeral Home in Royston, GA, northeast of Franklin Springs.

[Editor's comment: I have been blessed know each member of the King family. When I was about 5 or 6 years old. Bishop King came to Birmingham for a conference or a series of services, and stayed in our home. I remember his booming voice and as a child I thought he was almost like God. My parents taught us to respect our pastor, evangelist, adults, elderly people, and church leaders.

From time to time, while I am in Franklin Springs, I will meet up Joe King. He always asks about Melvine, Greg and Stephanie. He taught Stephanie when she was a student in the Junior College of Emmanuel. I found him to be a thoughtful man, and always showed great interest in the general church.

Hugh's News is pleased to be able to keep you all informed of fast, breaking news.]
