For the second year in a row, enrollment at Southwestern Christian University in Bethany, OK, has taken a substantial leap. Now serving a total of almost 600 students, this year's undergraduate enrollment at SCU increased by 43.5% over Fall of 2010. The newly-transformed liberal-arts institution has already experienced a dramatic boom in enrollment from Fall 2009 to Fall of 2010.
University administrators credit the increase in enrollment to several factors, including the addition of new degree programs such as Education and Sport Management, additional campus site locations, and membership in the NAIA, which allows students to receive athletic scholarships. Under the helm of new president, Dr. Ed Huckeby, a number of campus improvements have also occurred, including construction of the newly-dedicated residence hall and conference center and the addition of new faculty and staff. With the addition of the new residence hall, resident student population has increased 246% from the Fall of 2009.
"We are excited that the University is attracting a significant numbers of students who desire a quality education in an intimate Christian environment," said President Ed Huckeby. "We are also happy to have new facilities available to our students and the community."
