Monday night, January 30, 2012, the Lions added another victory over a top 25 team knocking off the third ranked team in the nation, Southern Polytechnic. It was an intense battle in which the Lions held a slim lead throughout the evening and fought off a late surge by the Hornets to earn a 65-63 win.
This season the Lions have now defeated reigning NAIA National Champions, University of Pikeville (RV at the time), Evangel University (14 at the time) and now Southern Poly (3). After returning from Christmas break the Lions have improved their overall record to 14-9 and conference record to 7-5. Their next test comes February 2 as they travel to Truett-McConnell College before returning home to face off against Lee University (17). Go Lions!
