I saw Dr. Michael Stewart, president of Emmanuel College, at the Cornerstone Promotional Conference on Saturday, June 11. He informed me that Dr. C. Y. Melton was to have back surgery on Tuesday, June 14, at St. Mary's Hospital in Athens, GA.
Unfortunately, I was not able to get in touch with Dr. Melton prior to his surgery.
I learned Thursday evening, that the doctor had him up walking. I do know we have excellent surgeons in Athens. St. Mary's Hospital is one of the finest in the nation.
Dr. Melton is a former president and professor at Emmanuel College. He continues to teach an adult Sunday school class at the Franklin Springs Pentecostal Holiness Church. The drive over to Franklin Springs from where we live is worth it just to hear this great man of God teach. He is a serious student and is a Bible scholar and communicator. Moreover, He loves Jesus and people. He makes the Word of God come alive as he skillfully makes application into day's world.
