Dr. G. Earl Beatty named Interim President of Holmes Bible College in Greenville, SC.Ezekiel 22:30, "And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap" (KJV ).
With a leadership style all his own, G. Earl Beatty, will give his heart and mind to Holmes Bible College -- and the alumni, students, and friends will respond in kind in helping the oldest Pentecostal Bible college in the world.
Now is the time for the alumni, friends, and the church to rally around Holmes Bible College and Dr. G. Earl Beatty, the Interim President.
Special Announcement: Don't forget that Sunday June 15, 2008, is Father's Day.
The Scripture tells us: "Honor your father and mother" - which is the first commandment with a promise" (Ephesians 6:2, NIV). Notice that it mentions "Father" first.

A kindergarten teacher was observing her classroom of children while they were drawing pictures of their choice.
She would occasionally walk around to see each child's work.
As she got to one little girl who was working diligently, she asked what the drawing was. The girl replied, "I'm drawing God.'"
The teacher paused and said, "But no one knows what God looks like."
Without missing a beat, or looking up from her drawing, the girl replied, "They will in a minute."
The Scripture reading for today is recorded in Exodus 4:2-3
Exodus 4:2-3
Then the LORD said to him (Moses), "What is that in your hand ?" "A staff," he replied. The LORD said, "Throw it on the ground."

Editor's Commentary on today's Scripture written in Exodus 4:2-3
In his book, The Meaning of Pastoral Care, Carroll Wise wrote that
"the primary focus of pastoral care should be on helping an individual become the person God intended him or her to become." For him, pastoral care encompasses a relationship of the pastor with his people in all of their activities, not merely in times of crises.
God is always looking for men and women who will wholeheartedly give themselves to Him in doing His Kingdom work and helping others find their way to the Savior, and their place of ministry in the church and in the world.
God asked Moses what was in his hand. Apparently, Moses didn't think as much of what he had as God did. It is only when we are willing to obey God in the little things of life, that He can trust us with even greater things.
In order for God to use us, we must let go of what is in our hand and give it to Him. Whatever talents or gifts we may have in our hands will not be properly utilized or reach their potential purpose until we surrender them to God.
Moses threw his staff down at the command of God. A miracle occurred.
Today, we will learn about a man of faith who is willing once again to give what he has in his hand to render meaningful and fruitful ministry and service to a college that is desperately in need of new leadership that will position the school for what God has designed for this once great institution to become once again in the 21st Century.
Nothing is impossible when we give to God what is in our hands. Without God we can do nothing. But with His help and direction we can do all things through Christ Who strengthens us.
It is my belief that Dr. G. Earl Beatty is the right man to become the Interim President of Holmes Bible College. The Board of Trustees at Holmes Bible College has made a wise decision. Dr. Beatty is a man of integrity and conviction. He will, by the help of Almighty God, and your faithful prayers and financial support, preserve and lead this institution to greater achievement and find her rightful place in this world. There is still a place for Bible colleges in the church today.
Let Earl Beatty tell his unique and thrilling story in his own words Asking a person to tell you their story is a key to good communications. It gives them the opportunity to tell you what is meaningful to them. This is what I have done, and now, I share with you what Earl Beatty told me in writing. (Actually, he sent this statement to some of his closet friends).
"My dear friends,
"I sincerely appreciate your support for my most recent assignment. It was one of those calls of God that comes out of a clear blue sky. My first was a call from Colonel E. L. Shirey to leave my comfortable bi-vocational pastorate and teaching in the public school in 1973. He didn't know me but God did.
"It occurred again in 1980 when Dr. C. Y. Melton called very unexpectedly upon the resignation of Dr. Garnet Pike. I was called as Dean of the School of Christian Ministries for ten years, then Academic Dean for eleven and finally Executive Vice-President of Emmanuel College for my last four years there.
"I had decided upon retirement that my major assignments were behind me and had settled in to being an adjunct instructor in Pastoral Theology at Emmanuel. But now again one of those unexpected calls has erupted my comfort Zone and Nancy and I are back in the harness in full support of another institution that we have loved for fifty-seven years.
"Who every thought we would be in one of the great tasks of our ministry at the grand old age of "what is it again?" Guess the years don't matter when God supplies the daily strength. It is a grand adventure.
"I toured the campus at Holmes yesterday. I can't tell you how impressed I am with the loyal staff there. They gave me a joyous welcome. They took me to every building so very familiar to me, but sadly in terrible disrepair. It is time to move.
"Then I was given the tour of the new facility. I get goose bumps even now thinking of how I felt as I walked into that beautiful edifice that shall soon be the New Holmes Bible College Campus.
"It is a stunning state of the art building. It contains administrative and faculty offices, an excellent library area, a chapel, several medium and large classrooms. It is totally heated, air conditioned, protected by an automatic sprinkler system, and wired for computer services. I was just overwhelmed.
"We must make some preparations for housing for our resident students. The process is under way with possibly modular temporary units or local rental facilities. The campus has ample room for new residence halls which will be the next phase.
"A place has been excavated for the site of the Holmes Memorial Church on the same campus. I am unaware of the plans for that in the near future.
"During my visit I came upon three students who dropped into the old campus. Though I had never met them and they did not know me, there was an immediate recognition. These are "Holmes Students." There was a radiance about them with which I could quickly identify.
"I will commute to the campus and Nancy will keep our home here in Franklin Springs. After the move to the new campus which will come as quickly as we have an occupancy permit from the Greenville Fire Inspector, I expect my trips to be three days a week.
"The Board of Trustees has agreed with my request for a new computer with the capability of logmein.com allowing me immediate access to my computer in the office. It would be the closest thing to being present there.
"I want you to know that this assignment was not taken lightly. In confidence I talked first to my pastor and the second person to whom I talked before even meeting with the Board of Trustees was Dr. Mike Stewart, President of Emmanuel College. That has been my home for twenty-seven years. He could not have been more supportive, and has many times since that first conversation assured me of his total support. Many others in the Georgia Conference have pledged that same support.
"Hugh, I am acquainted with thousands of people in this great denomination. I am convinced that mobilized we can bring Holmes back to that grand old training ground from which thousands have been sent to the front lines over the 110 years of its existence. I will most likely be there only a short time, but I am going to give it my very best while I am there.
"Thanks again for your support. I will take you at your word and will be sending you news releases from time to time for Hugh's News.
"When we get moved I hope you will come to the campus and let me show you around. You will be impressed too. I guess you could call that an exclusive:-)
Earl
[Editor's note: Melvine and I have sent a check out of our personal checking account to help Earl with the purchasing of new furniture for the first building on the new campus, and for expenses relating to the cost of moving the library and other things from the old camp. As a part of the tithe of Hugh's News, Inc. (we tithe on all income that is not designated) I sent a separtate check from that checking account.
You may wish to send contributions to Holmes Bible College as well. I know this gesture on your part will greatly encourage the new president in helping to meet the overwhelming needs of the college.

You will be glad you gave. Jesus said, "It is more blessed to give than to receive " (Acts 20:35). Let us all rally around the new president and Holmes Bible College.]
Holmes Bible College is in a state of Urgent Transition -- Letter from Holmes Board of Trustees
Dr. Richard Waters, after twelve years of service, has resigned as President of Holmes Bible College. He has led the School to the point of movement to the new campus. Dr. G. Earl Beatty of Franklin Springs, Georgia has been appointed as interim president. He has begun work and will serve until a president is chosen. Dr. Waters will be honored on October 2, 2008 at the Feast of Ingathering/Dedication and class reunions.
The first building on the new Holmes Bible College campus is complete. The Lord is at Work! The plans are to be begin classes there in the Fall. The transition to the new campus involves a three-fold effort: physical, spiritual and financial. Each is critical to this "new" day. In all three you are critically needed.
We need your help! The College is in urgent need of relocation funds to make the move. Much of the "old furniture" will be moved. However, the shelvels for the library cannot be moved. Seventy-five thousand dollars ($75,000) is needed for that need alone.
In addition, regular funds are needed for operation at the new site. Housing will be needed for dorm students. Current operational funds are needed to keep and maintain the faculty, staff, and facilities.
"300 for Homes" are needed to pledge a minimum of one hundred dollars ($100) per month for the next year (or longer). This, along with lesser gifts, student gifts, Feast of Ingathering, and other special offerings will meet the regular budget. We would ask that you particularly respond to the call for "300 For Holmes." Three hundred saved Israel during the time of Gideon. Only three hundred Spartans held off ten thousand Persians at Thermopylae. A few can make a difference.
Please send as large a gift as you can immediately designated for Relocation/Furniture. Now is the time to act. Many have been waiting. Holmes needs you to move now. Blessings on you -- and the Miracle of Holmes.
Sincerely,
Holmes Board of Trustees (dated June 9, 2008
[Editor's Note: It has been my experience that people like to send their gifts directly to the President of the College. Of course, the checks should be made out to Holmes Bible College.

Jesus also said this about giving: "Give, and it shall be given unto you: good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give unto your bosom. For with the same measure that you mete withal it shall be measured to you again" (Luke 6:38, KJV).
William Ralph and Ethel McBroom to celebrate their 63rd wedding anniversary on June 23, 2008
What a beautiful and distinguished couple! I know they are the sharpest and best dressed couple in Georgia. They are William Ralph and Ethel McBroom.
Brother Ralph McBroom was ordained as a minister of the Gospel in the Georgia Conference in 1936, and thus holds the record for being credentialed in our conference longer than any other minister.
Ethel is the daughter of the late Amos and Effie Bradley, former missionaries to Central America. She is a sister to the late Agnes Bradley Robinson, who was the wife of the late Hugh Padgett Robinson. Ethel is a gifted pianist and artist. You may have seen the oil portrait painting she did of John and Glenda Swails that is in the John W. Swails Convention Center in Franklin Springs, GA.

Dr. Jack Goodson was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award by Southwestern Christian University
The highest award given by Southwestern Christian University, the Lifetime Achievement Award, was presented to Dr. Jack Goodson at the recent 2008 SCU Commencement ceremony.
The award is given in recognition of a lifetime of achievement of service to Christ, the Church, the Community and the University. The recipient is decided by a special vote of the Board of Regents.
From 1959-1982, Dr. Goodson pastored six churches in the Cornerstone Conference of the IPHC. He served as Superintendent of the Cornerstone Conference from 1982-1985. During that time, he helped organize 12 churches, built a new cafeteria/training center and for two years served as Chairman of the Falcon Children's Home.
In 1985, he was elected as General Secretary of the IPHC, served until 1993, and was again re-elected to that position in 1997 to 2001.
Throughout his ministry, Dr. Goodson has been an innovative leader, developing such programs as: Missions Faith Commitment Day and Missions Meals with Ministers. He led the Denomination's first One Million Dollar Global Outreach Offering, developed the Pastor's Handbook, established "Honor Retired Ministers' Day", restructured the Ministerial Retirement Program, developed Planned Giving Officers for the Stewardship and Development program and established and implemented the Unified Education Plan for the Denomination.
Under his leadership, the Unified Education Plan enabled Emmanuel College to become accredited, Pacific Coast Bible College to emphasize church growth, and Southwestern Christian University to establish a Graduate School offering a Master of Ministry degree. Southwestern Christian University is honored to present this prestigious award to Dr. Jack Goodson.
[Editor's Note: It was my privilege to see Jack and his wife, Frankie, at the Cornerstone Inspiration Conference last Saturday, June 7, at the Brown Summit Resource Development Center. They never seem to age. They look as bright and sharp as always. I am glad for my friendship with this outstanding couple in our church (speaking of the denomination).
You may wish to write them and congratulate them. Jack was successful because of Frankie's support of him.

Terry L. Tramel received the D. Min. degree from the Assemblies of God Theologtical Seminary in Springfield, MO, on May 3, 2008
The Rev. Dr. Terry L. Tramel received the D. Min. degree (Doctor of Ministry) in Leadership from the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary in Springfield, Missouri on May 3, 2008.
Dr. Tramel is one of the greatest pulpit preachers in the IPHC and serves as Director of Bible/Theology at Southwestern Christian University in Bethany, Oklahoma. SCU and the IPHC are wonderfully blessed by God to have Dr. Tramel pouring his life, knowledge, and ministry into our students, especially the young men and women who are preparing to enter the ministry. This man has preached revivals, seminars, youth camps, and camp meetings (including some of the largest conferences) across the IPHC. God truly blessed the IPHC with this wonderful gift.
Dr. Tramel, his wife, Beckie, and their children, Tara Light and Clayton (namesake of the late Rev. Clayton Guthrie of Harkers Island, North Carolina) are some of God’s choice servants.

Hugh Morgan needs your prayers for a ministry trip to Midland, TX
I will be flying from Atlanta to Midland, TX, on Saturday, June 14, by way of the Dallas Fort Worth Airport. Pastor Mark Bristow has extended an invitation for me to come to speak in his churches. I am scheduled to preach and minister in two churches, and maybe a third, an Hispanic church:
Grace Fellowship Church on Sunday morning, June 15, at the 9 o'clock worship service. It is located at 1200 South Wilma, Monahans, TX.
Parker Heights Christian at 3 p. m. on Sunday, June 15, at 1414 East University, Odessa, TX.
Parker Heights Christian in Monahans at 7:30 p. m..on Tuesday, June 17.
God has opened the door for me to meet with some key leaders in that area of our country, and a staff of grant proposal writers to help us raise money for the Scholarship Endowment Program at Southwestern Christian University for future military chaplains.
The Scripture God has given me for my ministry to help young men and women to meet the graduate level educational requirements for the Army, Navy, and Air Force Chaplaincy, and the money that is needed for our Graduate School to grant scholarships is recorded in Hebrews 11:20,
"By an act of believing faith, Isaac, the promised son of Abraham, the father of nations, reached into future generations when he blessed his two sons, Jacob and Esau" (paraphrase by Hugh H. Morgan).
I know from experience the value of your prayers for my ministry. I want to go to Midland, TX, in the anointing and power of the Holy Spirit. Jesus told His disciples that without Him they could do nothing. The Word that God has given me is this:
John 15:16
"You have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that you should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in My Name, He may give it you."
KJV
You can be a vital part of my ministry and what God wants to do in Midland, Monahans, and Odessa, TX, this weekend. Thank you in advance for your prayer support.
Will you receive the Benediction?
1 Thessalonians 5:23, 24,
“May God Himself, the God Who makes everything holy and whole, make you holy and whole, put you together—spirit, soul, and body—and keep you fit for the coming of our Master, Jesus Christ. The One Who called you is completely dependable. If He said it. He will do it!
