Just How DRY is it way down South?
It's so dry in North Carolina that the Baptists are starting to baptize
by sprinkling,
the Methodists are using wet-wipes,
the Presbyterians are giving out rain-checks,
and the Catholics are praying for the wine to turn back into water.
Now THAT's Dry.

Scripture reading for today is recorded in Psalm 107:20
"He sent His Word, and healed them, and delivered them
out of their distresses" (KJV ).
Editor's commentary on today's Scripture written in Psalm 107:20
Psalm 107 is one of the most encouraging Psalms in the Book of Psalms.
It may be that you like multitudes of people, both Christians and
non-Christians alike, need healing. The doctors may have done all they
can do, and they may not be able to offer you any further hope. This is
not to put the doctor down, it is facing reality.
However, we can go to the Great Physician Who heals today. His Name is
Jesus.
The Psalmist said, "He sent His Word, and healed them, and delivered
them out of their distresses." You need to hear the Word today, believe
it, and receive your healing in the Name of Jesus, and allow Him to
bring you the deliverance you need.
In Eugene Peterson's rendering of this verse in
The
Message, he has this to say, "He spoke His Word and
healed them." Once again you can see the value of giving voice to the
Word of God. We need to speak it out loud so our ears can hear it. That
builds faith for faith comes by the hearing of the Word of God. Then,
the Holy Spirit activates that Word to make it happen. All of creation
came as a result of Jesus, the Word, calling it forth as He spoke the
worlds into existence. The Holy Spirit activated that Word and it
happened.
Though you may be suffering from physical pain or a disease that has
baffled the physicians, your spirit can remain victorious. Your faith
can lay hold to the promises of God for your healing. If you have a
physical problem refuse to allow it to touch your spirit. Claim your
healing today in the Name of Jesus.

The Rev. Mrs. Charlotte Brice of Oklahoma City died on
Friday, September 7, 2007
The Rev. Charlotte Brice of Oklahoma City entered Heaven's Gates around 9:15 p.m., September 7, 2007. Attended by her daughter, Jo Beth Williams, Granddaughter Jennifer Lawson, Grandson and wife, John and Lori Williams and her pastors Richard and Linda Goad, Charlotte slipped the bonds of earth and passed through the portals of glory.
Rev. Brice ministered/pastored throughout the Southwestern United States including Texas, her beloved New Mexico and Oklahoma. She became one of, if not the first, female nursing home administrators in the Pentecostal Holiness Church. She served the Carmen Home, in Carmen, Oklahoma.
Charlotte's daughter, JoBeth, was the daughter in law of the late Rev. Mr. C. H. Williams, longtime professor at Southwestern College. Charlotte was a member of the former Great Plains Conference. She served at the Carmen Home with the late Rev. Mr. J. M. Lemmon. She was a saint and highly regarded in this region.
In recent years she has resided with her daughter, Jo Beth Williams, and enjoyed immensely the company of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She had just recently been hospitalized at Integris Medical Center in Oklahoma City, and was surrounded by her devoted family there. Her home going was peaceful and serene, the epitome of a Christian's departure and the family rejoiced in her promotion.
Her funeral service was in Oklahoma City with interment in New Mexico.
[Editor's Note: I am not always in a position to drop everything and publish the news of deaths and funerals. We are in transition at Hugh's News and I hope you will be patient with us.
I am grateful for Rick Haug for sending me this information a week ago. I am just now getting round to printing the story. I apologize to the family and friends for this delay, as well as the announcement of Bishop Sam Fitzgerald's death.]
I would like to
introduce you to a friend of mine who is a Greek Bible scholar and
gifted writer. He is Dr. Donald M. Frazier of Houston, TX.
Prior to the printing of Dr. Donald Frazier's new book, he asked me to
review it and write a statement about it. The following is my
assessment of his book that you will find on the inside opening page:
"Dr. Donald M. Frazier is a gifted scholar
and a talented writer.
Parents, teachers, pastors, and other seriously minded students of the
Bible, will find Frazier's book, Greek
Nuggets from the Gospel Gold Mine, of inestimable value.
Broad in scope, thorough in content, and written in a readable
contemporary style, this volume will become an indispensable resource
for many years to come."
The name of his new book and a description
of it is recorded below:
GREEK
NUGGETS from the Gospel Gold Mine
Dr. Donald M. Frazier
The passing of time and the
tabulation of sales have proved that The Holy Bible stands alone in its
category as the greatest book ever written. People everywhere yearn to
learn
more about its pages and are willing to purchase anything, by anyone,
which
will aid their understanding of God’s Word. Sadly, it appears that the
deluge
of new, updated biblical versions have not sufficiently cleared the fog
created
between “translation” and “interpretation” of The Sacred Scriptures.
In less than a century after Christ’s ascension, the established Church
began
to view the written Word as a cadaver urgently needing their expert
dissection.
Careless and ruthless Theological autopsies over the years have only
served to
obliterate the heartbeat of the Bible for many and provide an easy
excuse to
bury this body of literary work as either incomprehensible or
irrelevant.
However, The Bible has a steady pulse and is still poised to speak to
today’s
world with clarity and significance.
From
his many years of studying the Greek language,
Dr. Donald M. Frazier has written this book entitled Greek Nuggets from the Gospel Gold
Mine.
It has the potential to be an indispensable aid in bridging the gap
between knowing
and assuming the meaning of God’s Word. It contains twenty-four
Karats
(chapters) that represent an identification, introduction, illumination
and
application of the original Greek neatly packaged in brief, easy to
understand
and corroborate chapters.
This
book is designed for people of all ages and
theological persuasions as a Devotional Book or Bible Study Aid. Those
who are
unfamiliar with the Greek language will want to explore the rich
treasures of
its pages. The Grammarian or the Grandmother will cherish the insights
and inspiration
they derive from Greek
Nuggets from the
Gospel Gold Mine and be able to use these insights in
their
daily Christian life.
The
reader will learn: How
Cain killed Abel, WheN
your name was written in the Book of Life, Why
God changed the name of the Eastern Gate after Pentecost, DID
Jesus His
Cross and Where the
Antichrist is
now, Do Angels ever
sing, How far is it to
heaven and many more
facts stored in the treasury of New Testament
Greek.
