The ministry of evangelism that was given to the Pentecostal Holines Church at DeLand, Florida, during my tenure as pastor was a great blessing to us and is remembered with joy as we recieive the news of his passing. He conducted several revivals there during the late 50s and early 60s. We offer our prayers of thanksgiving for his life and condolences to those who are left behind.

Jerry B. came to The First P.H. Church in Waycross, GA when Rev. Vick Callahan was the pastor. That was 1959 and he was introduced as a teenage evangelist. (If you are trying to guess Jerry B's age, maybe that will help.) He was dramatic and anointed.

In 1973, he to Christian Heritage PH Church in Memphis, TN.
Rev. Levern Dryden was the pastor. I was pastoring Trinity PH Church in north Memphis. Jerry B. preached a month long revival and the Lord used him and Ron Christopher.

In l975 and l976 he preached a 5 or 6 week revival at Northwood Temple in Fayetteville, NC. Rev. John Hedgepath was the pastor. There were about 100 baptisms after the revival.

Many of us remember the great campmeetings at the GA Conference with Bro. Walker. He was a mighty man of God and was used to touch the lives of many people. He certainly touched mine.

I also remember a special night at Faith Tabernacle in Oklahoma City, OK. Jerry B would ask my late husband, Linwood, to be the "caboose" of the healing line. Once the "caboose" was in place that was the end of the healing line.

One particular night Jerry B felt lead just to pray for children. So Linwood had our sons, Matt & Mark with him at the end of the line. Jerry B looked at my oldest son, Matt, who was about 8 years old and told him   "You struggle in school, but from this day forward school will be a breeze for you." From 3rd grade through though college, Matt made all "A's." Matt received his first "B" while in Medical School! Today he is an Oncologist/Hematologist in Fort Wayne, IN.

Then Jerry B came to our youngest son, Mark and just touch his fore head and Mark was slain in the Holy Spirit at age 6. Jerry B said, "God has a special calling on that child's life." Today, Mark is a pastor in Raleigh, NC.

Anyone who knew Linwood can just imagine the joy and Spirit which came over him after that healing service. Yes, Jerry B was always very special in our lives. A true man of God daring enough to follow God's leading Spirit.

Hugh, I did not have close fellowship with Dr. Jerry B. Walker. I actually never heard him preach or teach. We crossed paths in a couple of communities that I recall. One was in Oaklahoma. The pastor I was ministering with arranged a luncheon appoint with Jerry and me and himself. That is the only time I was ever in his company. I recall that it was an memorable experience. A man called of God to preach has to admire one who was in as much demand as Jerry. It underscores that God was using him and that the church was being blessed. I thank God for that.

I also thank God for you Hugh and your dear wife. Thanks for informing the nation of the lost of this great soul.

[Editor's Note: I am so grateful to all of you who have written comments at the end of a blog or a section in Hugh's News. Everyone is important and special. You impressions of great men like Jerry B. Walker help us all to see a broader, panoramic perspective of the man who loved God, was obedience to the voice of the Holy Spirit and allowed Jesus to live victoriously in his life. He was a man of One Book--The Bible. I have one of his Bibles with his name engraved in gold on the leather cover. There is never a day that I don't think of him. I wanted you, my readers, to know him, too.

Jerry B. Walker was loved and known by thousands of people from dozens of denominations and fellowships. Although he was an ordained minister of the Pentecostal Holiness Church, he preached in many other churches representing other denominations.

Heaven is rejoicing this night and Jerry B. is right in the middle leading the praises to the King of kings and the Lord of lords.]
