Chaplain (Colonel) Freeman Mashburn will celebrate his 91st Birthday today, Friday, February 19, 2010.
God has honored Freeman Mashburn with a long and fruitful life. You can help to make this 91st Birthday the most memorable one of all.
It was last year that Shirley Spencer honored Freeman and Colleen, his charming and beautiful wife, in the February 2009 IPHC Experience. That article was entitled “PH Through & Through.”
I consider Freeman Mashburn to be one of my choicest friends. He has been and continues to be my mentor. I succeeded Freeman as Director, Chaplains Ministries, IPHC, thirteen years ago. He served as our endorser and Director, Chaplains Ministries, IPHC for five years. I greatly admire him and value his humor, insights and wisdom. I consider Freeman to be the Senior Statesman of the IPHC. He is one of the best Public Relations Men the IPHC has ever had.
We want to thank Chaplain (Colonel) Freeman Mashburn for his service to God, country, and our church. He served with honor and distinction in the Army Chaplaincy on active duty for 27 years. He entered the Army Chaplaincy toward the end of World War II. He later served in Korea and Vietnam. In addition, he and his family were stationed in Germany. He retired from active duty as an Army chaplain in 1971, when he was the Post Chaplain at Redstone Arsenal, Huntsville, Alabama.
Freeman and Colleen Mashburn are truly “PH Through & Through” as Shirley Spencer wrote.
Freeman is an ordained minister of the Alpha Conference (formerly called Alabama Conference), and they are members of River of Life Pentecostal Holiness Church in Oklahoma City (formerly known as Muse Memorial Pentecostal Holiness Church). Richard Goad is their pastor.
It is my prayer that Freeman will live and be able to attend the 27th General Conference that may be held in Dallas, Texas, in 2013. He will surely be prepared to give another inspirational speech with a benediction that only Freeman can give.
Shirley Spencer wrote, "Freeman entered this world on February 19, 1919, in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. That same year, the Franklin Springs Institute (now Emmanuel College) was opened in Franklin Springs, Georgia. For 90 years now, Freeman has been affiliated with no other religious organization." We’ll add one more year to give him 91.
It occurred to me that it would be a grand gesture on our part to purchase a nice birthday card (I always send Hallmark cards because I care enough to send the very best) to wish Freeman a happy 91st Birthday. Because you will get this newsletter on Friday, Freeman's birthday, you will have to send a belated greeting card.
We can make this the grandest birthday of all for Freeman. You may write him at:

I am determined to get this story right. Twice I have cut Freeman and Colleen's heads off in their photo. I am embarrassed. I am having to learn a new format and way of doing pictures. Please be patient with Dr. Morgan. God is not finished with me yet.]
