Chaplain (Captain) Sarah Tarpley, United States Army will be flying to Iraq on Saturday, July 23, 2011. She will be with the 123rd Brigade Support Battalion, 4th Brigade Combat Team, of the 1st Armored Division.
I called and talked with her on Wednesday evening, July 6. She is currently stationed at Fort Bliss,. TX.
We were happy that she could come to our Chaplains, Spouses, and Friends Retreat at Founders Inn, Virginia Beach, VA. June 20-23, 2011. She was able to get TDY funds for her airline and auto reservations, per diem, and the cost of her hotel room. She is one of the most resourceful chaplains we have. God has given her favor with her commander.
Sarah is in good spirits and looks forward to her ministry to her soldiers in Iraq.
She needs a prayer covering for God's protection and provision for Spirit-empowered ministry to her soldiers.
Sarah is our first female Army chaplain. She served in the Air Force Reserve as a chaplain for a number of years. God opened this door of opportunity for her to be commissioned in the Army, and the transfer from the Air Force to the Army was seamless.
God's gracious hand is upon Sarah and is giving her favor.
When you pray, please remember Chaplain Sarah Tarpley in your prayers. She is an ordained minister of the Heartland Conference where Bishop Frank Tunstall is the superintendent. She is a graduate of Southwestern Christian University, and the School of Theology of the Assemblies of God at Evangel University in Springfield, MO. She has more than met all the requirements of education and pastoral leadership experience to serve as an Army chaplain. She is outstanding. She has a great personality.
