Brenda Mash Phillips to serve as the Chief Financial Officer of the IPHC

The General Finance Committee and Council of Bishops are proud to announce Brenda M. Phillips as Chief Financial Officer for the International Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Brenda is a certified public accountant with experience in all aspects of accounting and financial management. She has worked with a broad base of clients with a special emphasis in non-profit enterprises. Phillips has served other Oklahoma-based organizations as an audit manager and assistant controller for 29 years.

She comes from a strong pentecostal heritage and grew up in the IPHC. She attended Southwestern Christian University in the late 1970s and was named Miss Southwestern 1978. From 1976-1978, she also worked at the Global Ministry Center in the accounting office.

The Finance Committee and Council of Bishops would like to express their appreciation to Greg Hearn for serving as interim CFO for the past two years.

Brenda will begin her duties December 1. Join us in welcoming her to the Global Ministry Center family!

[Editor's Note: It has been my privilege to know Brenda Mash Phillips since 1975 when I became president of Southwestern College, now called Southwestern Christian University. Her father and mother, Bill and Laquitta Mash, became close friends of Melvine and me, and our family. We attended Muse Memorial Church together. Bill Mash was the general contractor who remodeled the current headquarters building in Bethany, OK, now called the Global Ministry Center, previously owned by the Catholics. I flew with Bill in his twin engine Piper Apache airplane to Mexico with the late Rev. Dr. Robert L. Rex and the late Mr. Rick Hurst to dedicate a church facility in 1977. We never got there. We ran into a snow storm and had to land in El Pasco, TX. However, we did walk across the boarder into Mexico in Waras to do some shopping.

Brenda is married to Chuck Phillips, the son of Charles and Ann Phillips. Chuck was a wide receiver for the football team of Wheaton College. While playing on this football team he broke several records that stand today. Ann was my administrative assistant and personal secretary when I was president of Southwestern. The Mashes and the Phillips have been cherished friends ever since those wonderful days when we lived in Oklahoma City.

Chuck and Brenda Phillips have two outstanding boys, really young men. Chuck graduated from Oral Roberts University in May 2010 with a degree in business administration. Their youngest son, Cody, is a sophomore at ORU, and will receive his ministerial credentials with the Assemblies of God this weekend.

It is of great interest to note that Chuck Phillips, Brenda's husband, is a Chief Petty Officer in the United States Navy Reserve, and was deployed for one year to Iraq. He is a great American and a Patriot who was willing to lay down his life for our country and the defense and freedom of the Iraqi people.

I salute the leadership of our church for selecting Brenda Mash Phillips as the Chief Financial Officer of the International Pentecostal Holiness Church. I know she will do a outstanding job.]
