Will you receive the Benediction?Today’s News . . .Editor’s Commentary based on Isaiah 55 “Salvation is near you this day and it’s free for the asking when asked for in believing faith”The 53
rd chapter of Isaiah is a graphic picture of the suffering Messiah. His death on the cross along with His resurrection from the dead makes possible this offer of salvation that we find recorded in this 55
th chapter. The incredible offer is not only to the Jewish people, but to the entire world.
It was the Apostle Paul who made this offer so clear. It means that you and I can receive Jesus Christ as our personal Savior, too. Here are Paul’s words: “For I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ; for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek” (Romans 1:16).
This 55
th chapter opens with
a clarion call to come for salvation. “Say there! Is anyone thirsty? Come and drink -- even if you have no money! Come, take your choice of wine and milk -- it's all free! Why spend your money on food that doesn't give you strength? Why pay for groceries that do you no good? Listen and I'll tell you where to get good food that fattens up the soul!” (Isaiah 55:1-2, TLB).
The call is urgent. Now is the accepted time. The opportunity for you to receive Jesus Christ is at the optimum moment. Isaiah says, “Seek the Lord while you can find Him. Call upon Him now while He is near” (Isaiah 55:6, TLB).
This call is instructive: “Let men cast off their wicked deeds; let them banish from their minds the very thought of doing wrong! Let them turn to the Lord that He may have mercy upon them, and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon! "This plan of Mine is not what you would work out, neither are My thoughts the same as yours! For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than yours, and My thoughts than yours” (Isaiah 55:6-9,TLB).
This word for today will be beneficial and productive in your life if you will receive it. Listen to these words: “. . . My Word. I send it out, and it always produces fruit. It shall accomplish all I want it to and prosper everywhere I send it” (Isaiah 55:11-12, TLB).
You can expect a miracle of the New Birth to happen in your life. Hear these gracious words: “You will live in joy and peace. The mountains and hills, the trees of the field --- all the world around you -- will rejoice. Where once were thorns, fir trees will grow; where briars grew, the myrtle trees will sprout up. This miracle will make the Lord's name very great and be an everlasting sign [of God's power and love] “Isaiah 55:12-13, TLB).
If you would like to have this kind of life, call upon the Lord right now. The Bible says,
“If we confess our
sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9, NIV).

Spotlighting the Feast of Ingathering at Emmanuel College, October 3, 2008The Women’s Ministries of the International Pentecostal Holiness Church sponsors the annual Feast of Ingathering at Emmanuel College, Holmes Bible College, and Southwestern Christian University.
Ladies from all across the Southeastern United States in the various conferences work tirelessly all year to bring their offerings to this annual event. Local church Women’s Ministries take on this annual project, and their conference Women’s Ministries Presidents present their offerings in a special service in the John W. Swails Convocation Center on the Campus of Emmanuel College.
Mrs. Jewelle Stewart presided for her last time as the Executive Director of Women’s Ministries. At the next General Women’s Ministries Conference a new president will be elected. We are grateful for Jewelle’s leadership during the past two quadrennia.
You will be happy to learn that the total Feast of Ingathering offering that was presented to Dr. Michael Stewart, President of Emmanuel College, was
$102,764.00. At the close of the service the congregation was given an opportunity to bring their offering to the steps to the platform. That offering was
$1,400 in cash and checks.
At the luncheon hosted by President Michael Stewart in the new Franklin Springs City Hall, he challenged all the ladies to increase their giving in 2009 by 9% in light of the 90th Birthday Anniversary of Emmanuel College.
Now is a good time to make contributions to Emmanuel College. Dr. Stewart reports that they have just completed their fall
Phon-A-Thon with a total of
$52,862.00 (which is above last fall). Given the economic situation, this is great news! Your contributions are tax deductible. Jesus said,
“It is more blessed to give than to receive” (Acts 20:35).

Franklin Springs, GA 30639Testimonies from Students who received Founders Scholarships“I would like to take a minute to express my gratitude for the Founders Scholarship I have received. I am financing my college degree by myself, and receiving this scholarship for the last three years has been a tremendous help in my being able to afford to come to Emmanuel. It actually was one of the deciding factors for me choosing to attend here. Back when I was a senior in high school I was very well acquainted with Emmanuel due to several summers at Falcon Youth Camp. I knew it was good school, but it was too far from my family and too expensive. So I crossed Emmanuel off and I fully intended on going to a different college. Then when I found out I would be receiving the Founder's Scholarship if I enrolled at Emmanuel, it made me take another look. I saw that God was opening the door for me to be able to attend here and He was providing the way. I'm still far from home but I have come to love the people here as I do my own family. Thank you so much for this scholarship, I can honestly say I would not be here without it. Thank you for helping me have the experience of a lifetime that has changed me forever.”
Caitlin Poole“Good Morning. My name is Jessica Wooten, and I am a recipient of the Founder's Scholarship. This scholarship has really enabled me to attend Emmanuel College. I am a missionary kid, and though God has always provided for us, money has always been an issue for us. When praying for God's direction as to where I was to go to school, I felt like God was pointing towards Emmanuel. I applied and was accepted, and almost immediately money became an issue. We prayed an believed that if it was God's will for me to be at EC that He would provide the money. I see the Founder's Scholarship as an answer to prayer and a building block into shaping my future. So I would personally like to thank the Women's Ministries of the IPHC, from the bottom of my heart for giving into my life and enabling me to step into my destiny.”
Jessica Wooten“Since I’m an IPHC student, I receive the Founders Scholarship. I want to thank the women who allow that to be possible. If it wasn’t for the various Women's Ministries members who raise this money to send to the college, then I would have to figure out another way to get $2,500 dollars to pay for school. I appreciate everything that the Women's Ministries do for me and this school, and I love them for that!”

Editor’s Note: The greatest investment one can make in life is to invest in the life or lives of youth. Here is the Scripture God has given me for this statement: “
By an act of believing faith, Isaac, the promised son of Abraham, the father of nations, reached into future generations when he blessed his two sons, Jacob and Esau” (Hebrews 11:20, paraphrase by Hugh H. Morgan).
President Michael Stewart honored the Wellons Brothers and their Families at the Alumni Banquet, Friday evening, October 3, 2008
[Dr. David Hopkins and Dr. C. Y. Melton shared delightful and
personal stories about these gifted and talented men]William “Bill” S. Wellons, Sr.William "Bill" S. Wellons, Sr. was born in Micro, NC, "born again" in Falcon, NC; married Florence Lou Cooper, and has four sons who aptly followed the Wellons tradition of working successfully in the family business. He was a well-known entrepreneur, philanthropist, humanitarian, and God-fearing gentleman.
His favorite charities were Northwood Temple Church, Northwood Academy and Emmanuel College. He was one of the founders and a charter member of Northwood Temple Church in Fayetteville, NC. He was a leader in the establishment of The Men's Ministries of the IPHC.
Mr. Wellons graduated from Micro High School in 1939 and entered Emmanuel College in the Fall of 1939. In 1984, Bill and Florence Wellons established The William S. Wellons Scholarship Fund to encourage students from North Carolina to attend Emmanuel College.
Bill Wellons, Sr. passed away February 9, 1997 but his generosity lives on through scholarship funds set up for Emmanuel College and Northwood Academy.
Charles Russell WellonsCharles Russell Wellons was born November 3, 1915 in Micro, North Carolina. At age 17, he left Micro and headed to Washington, D.C. and started working for Safeway Grocery Store. During his time at Safeway he bought a taxi cab and drove it at night while still working at Safeway during the day. Eventually he bought a gas station, and then a restaurant which finally launched him into buying rental property in D.C. During those years, he became involved with Emmanuel College and felt a burden to help raise money for the school. In 1954 he started building a housing development in Durham, North Carolina, and it was at that time he used the biblical principal of the first fruits. He gave the proceeds of the first two streets sold to Emmanuel College. During the term of President W. G. Drum they traveled all over the United States raising money for Emmanuel College.
Up to his death in 1997 he raised money for Emmanuel and served on the Board of Trustees. For many years he was Chair of the Building and Grounds Committee.
Each year during the Board meetings he could be seen days before going throughout the campus and inspecting all the buildings. He loved Emmanuel, and one of his dreams was to see it grow to a four-year liberal arts college.
In 1952 he married Geneelia Marion Stewart and they had three children, Miriam, Stewart, and Charlene, all of whom attended Emmanuel. He went to be with the Lord on April 24, 1997. Before his death he started a Foundation which has been beneficial to helping students go to colleges and universities across the country. He truly loved Emmanuel with all his heart and would be very pleased and proud to see the growth and achievement that has happened to the school.

John Howard WellonsJohn Howard Wellons was born May 31, 1918 in Micro, NC. In 1945, John married Alma Ruffin of Bailey, NC

They were members of the Gospel Tabernacle Church in Dunn, NC, where he served as a member of the church board and a Sunday school class teacher whose class was named in his honor. From 1943-1963, he was president and owner of Wellons Candy Company, a candy manufacturing company employing several hundred. In 1950, he established the John H. Wellons Foundation as a public charity. The foundation provides loans for deserving individuals seeking higher education and sponsor for elderly housing.
John was a developer and real estate investor. In 1959, John organized First Federal Bank of Dunn where he served as chairman of the board until his passing. He was honored in 1968 as Man of the Year of Dunn.
He was a member of the founding board of Oral Roberts University, Tulsa, OK, where he served as Chairman of the Endowment Committee. He was also selected to serve on the founding Board of Regents for Regent University in Virginia Beach, VA. Calvin G. WellonsEntrepreneurs are often forced to choose between logging long hours building their fledgling businesses or spending time with their families. Calvin Wellons, a visionary real estate developer and philanthropist who helped transform Morehead City, NC into a thriving community, was no ordinary entrepreneur.
Mr. Wellons, who died from cancer, last year, tallied an impressive list of professional accomplishments during his career. In addition to the many properties he developed, including Morehead Plaza and Beaufort Town Apartments, Mr. Wellons also served on the Morehead City Council and as President of the Morehead City Rotary, sat on the Emmanuel College Board of Trustees for 23 years, and with his wife, Jean, established the Wellons Foundation, an organization dedicated to helping men and women, who otherwise couldn’t afford college, further their education.
Mr. Wellons and his brothers were also responsible for securing the funds to erect Emmanuel College’s
Wellons Science Resource Center. Randy Martin, Morehead’s City Manager, also credits Mr. Wellons with helping to build Morehead City’s financial stability, while Mr. Wellons’ friend and business associate, Joe Beam, believes Mr. Wellons “was instrumental in expanding the city limits of Morehead City, taking them to the outlying areas,”
But Mr. Wellons’ legacy begins with his family.
Indeed, Mr. Wellons managed to do what most businessmen, caught up in the fast-paced business world, simply can’t: He made time for everything. Regardless of the long hours he devoted to his professional and philanthropic endeavors, Mr. Wellons always put the Lord first then his family.
In fact, if there was one thing Mr. Wellons’ four daughters could always count on it was the fact that their dad would be home for breakfast and dinner, without fail.
He gave tremendously to people who did not have the means, and no one ever knew that he gave. He stood up for something, even if everyone thought he was wrong, he would withstand what was being said if he believed it was best for the business, church, or his home life.

Will you receive the Benediction?Numbers 6:22-27
And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying: 23 "Speak to Aaron and his sons, saying, 'This is the way you shall bless the children of Israel. Say to them:
24 "The LORD bless you and keep you;
25 The LORD make His face shine upon you,
And be gracious to you;
26 The LORD lift up His countenance upon you,
And give you peace.
27 So they shall put My name on the children of Israel, and I will bless
them."
NKJV
[
Editor’s Note: The importance of this benediction is that God gave it to Moses to give to Aaron and his sons to bless the children of Israel because God will bless the people when this benediction is given. We as believers in the One True God, Jehovah can receive this blessing too! May I share with you that this benediction will become a
Rhema Word to you as you say it out loud, slowly and think the thoughts. You will not be the same. No matter what may happen in the days that are just ahead, our God is in control of this universe and the economy of this world, even where you and I live. God is our Source, and He will keep us and provide for our every need.]
