A Special Report

It is true . . . Dr. Jerry B. Walker has died . . .

We are all indebted to Lynda, Jerry B's executive secretary, care giver and confidant for confirming the news about the death of Jerry B. Walker on Thursday, December 7, 2006.

I was absolutely confident that the news was true because of the integrity of the person who informed me. Since I sent the news out, others who were close to Jerry B confirmed the story.

Here is what Lynda, his secretary, wrote this morning:

"Sadly, Hugh, it's true.  Jerry died sometime after 3:30 a. m. yesterday (Thursday, 7 December).   He died peacefully at home.  If it couldn't happen at the pulpit, being in his own home was the second best place.  His "boys" were with him, so he wasn't completely alone.  He loved those two as much as if they'd been live human little boys. [Note: his two boys are dogs.]

"Right now we don't have an obituary prepared.  Today (Friday) will be arrangements preparation day.  When I know what they are, I'll pass it on to you.

Please thank all who loved him dearly for all their prayerful support.  I know it meant so much to him.  He looked forward to getting your "epistles" as he called them.  He told me many times it was the only way he learned about people across the country.

Have a safe drive home.

Lynda

[Editor's note: I will have tributes to Jerry B in upcoming Hugh's News. I hope I can go to his funeral service and honor him in his funeral service and burial. I do not have the money for airline tickets and hotel expenses. If you would like to contribute to that trip I would be most grateful. You can contribute through Hugh's News, Inc. Any contribution is tax deductible. We have a 501 (C) (3) Tax Deduction status. My mailing address is always in my signature block.

Melvine and I have been in Alexandria, VA, all this week. Dr. Carpenter, Sr., the Chairman of Chaplains Ministries, IPHC, will be making some announcements concerning a couple of honors I received this week. I am overwhelmed, honored and humbled. I wonder if I am having a dream or something.]

Will you receive the Benediction?

Rom 8:35-39
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? 36 As it is written:

"For your sake we face death all day long;
we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered."

37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him Who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
