On December 24, 1942 Frances Sue Crutchfield married her childhood sweetheart, William M. Post, whom she affectionately called “Billy."
She attended A. B. Hill Elementary School and Whitehaven High School in Memphis, TN, but transferred to a private school following her marriage.
During World War II while her husband was in the Navy, she worked as a payroll clerk in a defense plant that was building B-25 bombers. After the war she and Billy enrolled in Holmes Bible College in Greenville, SC. They graduated in 1950, and began serving the Lord together, always obedient and diligent in response to His calls.
The family moved to Greeley, CO, in 1956. She reared three children and was a stay-at-home mom, only working part-time on weekends for some food brokers.
Over the years she taught Sunday school, worked with Pioneer Girls, Vacation Bible schools and managed youth camps. She was always involved in a Ladies Bible study and helped organize a Young Women’s Auxiliary. She was a friend, encourager and mentor to many, always reaching out to women and families at the many churches where she and Billy served. She loved to entertain and was a gracious hostess. Her gift for decorating was evident to all who visited their homes. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and sewing. When the children were growing up, the family enjoyed many Saturdays boating on Lake Loveland.
In 1969 they accepted their first pastorate in Vancouver, B.C. They enjoyed that beautiful city for the next five years. As a pastor’s wife, Frances always enjoyed meeting new people with each move they made. With great anticipation, it was a joy to move into a new parsonage, decorate it and make it their home. Since Pastor Bill was a builder as well as a pastor, they always left each parsonage and church in better condition than they found it.
In 1978 college was top priority for the Posts. The whole family was attending Northwest University in Kirkland, WA. After moving to Greeley, their youngest daughter Lynne enrolled at University of Northern Colorado to work on her Master's degree. Frances decided to tag along and got her Master's degree also. She only taught school for a year before they transferred to Roanoke, VA, where she served as church secretary.
Frances and Billy served churches in Oklahoma City and Ponca City, OK. In 1991, Billy retired from St. Paul’s Methodist church in Ponca City and they returned to Greeley. They became avid travelers and their dream of touring the Holy Land came true. Frances enjoyed taking pictures and making scrapbooks to share with friends and family. The real joy of her life was spending time with her children and five grandchildren.
Frances has been a member of the Wesleyan Church for 20 years, although she was a member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church before that. For the last 15 years, Billy has been on staff at Greeley Wesleyan Church serving as Director of Home Care. Frances very often made visits with him and loved sending her creative homemade cards to shut-ins.
Her legacy remains in her deep love for the Lord, her beloved husband, family and the prayers she prayed daily for each of them. She looked forward to and enjoyed planning every detail of family gatherings.

[Editor's Note: I want to thank Mrs. Evelyn Deedee Springer of Germantown,TN, for notifiying me of the death of Frances Sue Crutchfield Post, and connecting me with the daughter of Bill and Frances Post. I wanted to get the names of the IPHC churches Bill and Frances pastored, and his work with the denomination. Deedee graciously obtained that information from Lynne and Bill Post. I checked with Bishop Leon O. Stewart to fill me in on precise details about Bill's leadership in the church.
Deedee told me over the phone about the work and ministry of Frances at their church in Memphis, Christian Heritage Pentecostal Holiness Church. Frances organized the Young Women's Auxiliary, taught Sunday school, etc. Bill led the music and the great choir that he took on trips to General Conference and the Sunday School Convention.
Hugh's News ever seeks to honor our people whether they are still members of the IPHC or not. If a person was ever a member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church I count them in. I am a Marine. We say in the Marine Corps, "Once a Marine, always a Marine." And I say, "Once IPHC, always IPHC."
I just learned from Bishop Leon O. Stewart that Bill Post is credentialed with the IPHC with his membership in the Appalachian Conference. That is where he tithes his income.
Bill Post was the pastor of Calvary Temple in Vancouver, BC. He pastored New Covenant P. H. Church in Kirkland, WA, whiled he was the superintendent of the Northwest Conference (covered Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Montana), as well as the interim pastor of Cottage Grove Church in Kirkland, WA.
Bill served as the minister of music at New Life Temple when Leon O. Stewart was pastor. When Leon was elected General Superintendent of the IPHC, Bill continued there as the interim pastor. Later, Bill served for a while as the administrative assistant to Bishop Leon O. Stewart.
It is my understanding that the funeral or celebration service will be online streaming and you can view it by going to www.adamsonchapels.com, at 1 p. m. Mountain time, Thursday, November 17.
