I was pleasantly surprised to get an lovely e-mail from John Parker who resides in Dunn, NC. He is one of the finest Christian men I know. I consider him to be a senior Statesman of the IPHC and one of the most effective missionaries we have ever produced. More impotantly he is a dear and trusted friend of mine.
Here is John's e-mail:
"Hugh, I have just read of your "news" concerning the advancement of Sarah Tarpley to the level of chaplain
in the U.S. Army. I do not know her personally, but am sure that she will do a great work and will bring much honor to our IPHC and to the Lord that she loves and serves.
"Again, receive my personal appreciation for the great job you are doing with our chaplains ministry as well as the broad span of information that you provide for our church in general. Edna and I are still healthy and active, going a full day's journey every twenty-four hours. Please convey to Melvine our love and appreciation for all that she does to make you the great church newsman that you are."
Wow, what a booster John is. He is certainly a positive man who has greatly encouraged me. I have learned that all of us need affirmation.
I will be in Oklahoma City this week. I will be flying non-stop to OKC on Monday, arriving in early afternoon. the first thing I want to do after I pick up my rental car is to drive to the Northwest Expressway to USA Car Wash where there is a shoe shine man who is the best in the known world. His name is Frank. He is an usher at Cathedral of Praise in Oklahoma City. His shoe shines lasts and lasts. He has a secret that he is not willing to share with this ole Marine. He is a genuine Christian. He is my friend. I endorse him and his good work. If you need a shine, go see Frank.
