Adam Erwin is the first IPHC Chaplain Candidate to graduate from SCU

Lieutenant Junior Grade Adam Erwin, United States Navy, is the first IPHC Chaplain Candidate to complete the course work and earn his 72-semester hours Master's degree in Military Chaplaincy at our Graduate School at Southwestern Christian University.

He will graduate from Southwestern Christian University on Saturday, May 8, 2010, while his wife, Kuhiwa, will graduate from Emmanuel College the same day with a B. S. degree in Business Management.

Adam is a graduate of Georgia Tech. He is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Stuart Erwin, a prominent dentist in Elberton, GA. His mother, Karen, was our official photographer for our Chaplains, Spouses, and Guests Dinner Banquet last July in Greensboro, NC, at our retreat, just prior to General Conference.

Kuhiwa is the daughter of the Rev. Mr. and Mrs.Ted Coody. Ted and Tammy are the pastors of Honea Path Pentecostal Holiness Church in the Upper South Carolina Conference. Adam and Kuhiwa were married last summer (2009).

Adam was selected as the National Royal Ranger of the Year two consecutive years. I met him at Youth Quest in Daytona, FL, a few years ago. When I saw him standing at the Chaplains Ministries, IPHC booth, I saw him in my imaginative or spiritual eyes dressed in a white dress Navy officer uniform with a cross on the sleeves. I asked him if he had ever considered being a Navy chaplain, and he exclaimed, "How did you know that God has called me to be a Navy chaplain?" Of course, I did not know that, only what was revealed by the Holy Spirit when I looked at him.

If God has called you to be a military chaplain, the graduate school at Southwestern Christian University may be the place to get your 72-semester hour Master's degree. It will be worth your while to check it out. You may contact Dr. John Chasteen at the following venues:
