Dear Family and Friends of Rev. Fannie Lowe,
Due to a trip to Brazil, I regret that I am not able to attend this service for a dear colleague in World Missions Ministries. However, I wanted Dr. Dalton to share some thoughts with you about Sister Lowe.
Soon after she was told of the advanced stage of the disease that took her life, Rev. Doyle Marley and I visited her in the Danville hospital. She was in good spirits and thanked the Lord for all His goodness to her through the years. I often spoke with her by phone in the intervening months and she kept that "walking with Jesus" attitude. Though clearly weaker in the final couple of weeks, she maintained a heart of gratitude for the goodness of the Lord.
I spoke with her a few weeks ago and asked if there was anything she needed from a financial standpoint. She said that her Hong Kong Chinese friends were so faithful to assist her and she was fine. I asked if she needed anything specifically from World Missions and her reply brought me to to tears, "Brother Beacham, thank you for the offer but I am fine. Actually, I am sending some money for a project I have been supporting."
Last week as we talked she knew the end was near but kept a good spirit and died as she lived, grateful to the Lord of Glory for all His goodness. She often commented that she was so thankful that she suffered little or no pain as she walked to heaven's shore.
When I learned on Friday of her passing, I thought of the graves in the Happy Valley Christian cemetery in Hong Kong. Many Pentecostal missionaries are buried there and the graves give the name, date of death, and simple statement, "A Pentecostal Missionary." Her body will not lie there, but her heart lies with the Chinese people.
On behalf of the IPHC World Missions family, we extend our prayers to you and our gratitude to God for her life. I am,
Sincerely yours,
Bishop A.D. Beacham, Jr.
