A great hymn of the Church I love to sing, "To God Be the Glory"

I am discovering that many people are responding favorably to my publishing of some of the great hymns of the church. Many folks like me love them and enjoy singing them. It is a good thing when having one's personal devotions to have a hymnal in addition the Bible in a quiet time with the Lord of Glory.

While I enjoy many of the contemporary songs that we are singing today, I also want my worship leaders not to forget the hymns that mean so much to us. They are Biblical and have great Biblical theology. Let's sing them joyfully and from the depths of our hearts in our worship of Almighty God Who alone is worthy of our praise, adoration, and worship.

"To God Be the Glory"

Lyrics by Fanny Crosby
Music by William H. Doane

To God be the glory, great things He has done;
So loved He the world that He gave us His Son,
Who yielded His life an atonement for sin,
And opened the life gate that all may go in.

Chorus

Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
Let the earth hear His voice!
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
Let the people rejoice!
O come to the Father, through Jesus the Son,
And give Him the glory, great things He has done.

O perfect redemption, the purchase of blood,
To every believer the promise of God;
The vilest offender who truly believes,
That moment from Jesus a pardon receives.

Chorus

Great things He has taught us, great things He has done,
And great our rejoicing through Jesus the Son;
But purer, and higher, and greater will be
Our wonder, our transport, when Jesus we see.

Chorus

May God bless these hymns as we read the words and sing them. The church is noted for its singing.
